I had Brandy in for a design tweak and was trying out different hairstyles for her (ended up with not much of a change; shorter, bouncier hair than Melissa, with longer sideburn thingies). One of the designs had her hair pulled back in a headband.

As you can see, it didn't really work with her personality. So I gave it to Melissa.
You'll hear more about ol' Chet before this story arc is done, and W4--I HATE that song!! It makes me want to smash things! RRAA!! Smash smash smash....
*ahem*
But New York was pretty cool. Everyone should go there (but not all at once).
------------------

Woo Hoo! Brandi is back, sarcastic as ever!
I also like the different hair style for Melissa, with the headband. Permanent change, or just trying something new, BJ?
-Zodo

Hm. I hate to say it, but you might get on her nerves. Brandy takes things pretty seriously.
Don't hate her for that, though.

...or it could be that I'm just not that consistent.
If you take a look at the JF characters, most of them have bangs of some kind that will arc out from the hairline, jutting out from the face at the same distance as the nose. It makes a kind of arc that I like in the profile design. Removing that arc (or any bangs whatsoever) makes the character look kinda' odd--I didn't do the humongous eyes on purpose, it was probably just a subconscious reaction to all that forehead.
------------------

Seriousness does not preclude appreciation of goofy/silly behavior. I'm deadly serious about everything - but my seriousness extends to silliness, humor, and related things. It's kind of hard to explain, but that's what it is: Seriousness about silliness.
------------------

Just a note, tho', Michael - Brandy's less being mean to Melissa in today's strip, than she is making her feelings about Ken known. Subtle difference, but there.
"I LIVE!"

Of course she's not being mean. She actually likes Melissa.
In regard to the hairstyle, I noticed that even with her bangs pulled back, Melissa's eyes grew to take up most of the exposed forehead. The effect seems to make her head look smaller.
I also noticed that in the profile, her nose seems longer than normal, though this could be attributed to the fact that her bangs usually bring out her profile a lot more, with the effect of flattening the front plane of her head... The angle of the nose seems to be about the same as it is back in the lollipop strips.
-Zodo

Ask out JoBeth. She's blonde too. Very much so.
Now she's armed, too. (see the JoBeth forum for details. )
-Zodo
