Theocracy... could be interesting. Makes me wonder how a sentient dolphin became accepted, our church being so down on many of the necesary techs involved, not to mention the implied spiritual, doctrinal, and scriptural issues such a being would generate.
Wish I hadn't missed that mailing. Yes, please mail me the 'stuff'.
I don't have enough detail on your tech level and direction... but the only replacement for stasis I could think of is a combination of a shock absorbing material filling the cockpit (probably a foam or gel), a muscle relaxant and something to reduce consciousness or cause unconsciousness/hibernation. I'm guessing she'd wake up a little fullbody sore but fully functional, depending on the velocity.
Tight plotting and good conflict have always been my bane as well.
And I'm still waiting for more. It was going fine, just keep writing! We'll help if we can, we WANT to help.
PS Tell me what you think of the Buffy music episode when you see it.
Life sucks...

Angel cancelled
Well it looks like WB has decided to cancel Angel after the end of this season. Hopefully they will have time to at least end the series decently. Lots of setbacks in Wheatonville recently. I wonder where things go from here.

It kinda worked - I got farther than I had before, but I still got bogged down around 3-4000 words, and haven't had a chance to do much with it since.
I tried my hand at NaNoWriMo year before last, and completed a 50,000 word monument to mediocrity. Haven't done nothin' with mine, neither.
If you want, you can read it here.

National Novel Writing Month is a non-profit volunteer-driven voluntary-participation dealie that encourages people to try to write a full novel (50,000+ words) within the month of November.
There is nothing that says it has to be a GOOD novel.
Their thesis is that everybody's first novel pretty much sucks anyway, and most people are too intimidated by the idea of WRITING A NOVEL to ever try it, so why not just crunch real hard for one month, churn out something that you know won't be top-quality, and get over the first-novel obstacle!!
It's a lot of fun, and the community is extremely supportive and helpful. It really was a life-altering experience. For me, it involved getting up at 5:30 a.m. every day in November, belting back a cup of reheated coffee from the day before, and hammering out 2,000 words between 5:40 and 7:00.
The amazing part of the experience is that even if you're just pulling stuff totally out of your ass as you go along, I suddenly discovered at around the 30,000 word mark that everything sort of MADE SENSE and all of the plot threads and red herrings I'd thrown in just because it was a good idea at the time/I had no better thoughts started to tie together eerily well.
Damn, now I wanna write a novel.
http://nanowrimo.org is the addy, when it works.

And I wanna go back to working on mine. November was a bad month for me (I know, excuses excuses) - I was basically running on zero sleep, since my littlest was dealing with three separate ear infections that month.Shepherd wrote:For me, it involved getting up at 5:30 a.m. every day in November, belting back a cup of reheated coffee from the day before, and hammering out 2,000 words between 5:40 and 7:00.

Soon as I get into a decent sleep pattern, I'll try again.
