Hey guys, up here in Canada we just introduced a new ten dollar bill. It looks pretty cool, it reminds me of 'foreign' (sp) bills because it features color all the way to the edge.
The reason I bring it up, is that the bill has a huge number of features (anti forgery mostly) including a special raised section on the bill so blind and visually challenged people can tell what denomination it is! It looks a bit like braille blocks. Is that cool or what? The rest of the denominations should be changed over the next few years.
The level of detail the mint puts into these things is awesome. No wonder they do a brisk international business.
Actually, I went and checked, it appears the Canadian mint doesn't do bills and I don't have time to find the real culprit right now. Regardless they do a sweet job.
Talk to you later guys.

Thanks, Jim! May your money never lose its raised bits!<P>(I just made that up. It's not as impressive sounding as I thought it would be.)<P>------------------

I found out who makes Canadian bills. It's the Bank of Canada. Seems a tad odd to have two organizations making our currency, but what the hell.
For those poor, sad individuals who don't live in my most nifty country, and are interested, here's a link on the new bills: <A HREF="http://www.bankofcanada.ca/en/banknotes ... index.html" TARGET=_blank>http://www.bankofcanada.ca/en/banknotes ... ex.html</A>
It doesn't mention the raised dots though. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/frown.gif"><p>[This message has been edited by Seafog (edited 03-02-2001).]

Even more money.
Update!
There are now 3 bills in the Canadian Journey series. We have the 5 dollar bill, the 10 dollar bill and the new 100 dollar bill.
The hundred looks extra neat. It has a reflective stripe down the left side, has relfective fibers under blacklight and a bunch of other stuff too. The old link is still good, go check it out. I don't think it lists all the features though.
I hear you USAers have a new bill too. Anybody want to enthral us with info on it?
I just couldn't resist bumping this old thread back up, it was all the way on page 35!

Cooool! When Joey and I were in Mexico, we had a blast with their money. The $50 peso note has a holographic lookin' stripe down one side, and each bill had its own features--my favorite was the $20 peso note: it had a clear little window on the left side that was stamped with a design and a little "20".
So you guys get an ultra-cool $100 bill. And we get this. siiiigh....everyone's got neat looking money except us.

Actually those new bills of yours don't look TOO bad.
The new Canadian $20 is in circulation now and the $50 was unveiled 2 days ago. The link if you guys want to see has moved to: http://www.bankofcanada.ca/en/banknotes ... 001-05.htm
I think the $20, $50 and $100 are the coolest with their extra features, but, man, is the Queen ever looking/getting old!
A coworker cashed his pay the other day from a bank machine and it gave him 6 or 8 counterfit $20s! From a bank machine! The Mac's noticed right away, but we had to look really hard to notice the difference. That microprinting is a pretty good feature.
Trivia: The release of the $100 bill was moved WAY WAY up because someone had finally figured out how to counterfit the old one pretty well in large volume (by the standards these things are judged anyway). They caught them, but the damage had been done.
