Boeing shelves Sonic Cruiser!

Postby Batty den on Sun Dec 22, 2002 3:53 am

From the BBC at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/2596155.stm

"The US aircraft maker Boeing has said it is shelving plans to build its high-speed Sonic Cruiser passenger jet aircraft. "

I'm a bit upset about this. :(

Sigh.

The longer the war on terrorism goes on, the more casualties there are.
Jobs lost,
Opportunities lost,
Technologies put on hold,
Justice, Rights and Freedoms curtailed,
and Lives lost or destroyed.

I hate fighting. I don't like war,
but this one can have no armistace.
The enemy's goal is nothing less than our deaths.
I hope we win soon so we can get back
to building a future where this won't
happen again.

Naw, they'll be happy with our conversion or submission to Islam, instead.

I have to admit, though, on the bright-side scale that comes to about a -3.

Someday, though. I mean, someday someone will get something like the Sonic Cruiser going. I don't know if in my lifetime we'll see passenger liners slipping out of most of the atmosphere for real speed (and avoiding those nasty sonic booms), but I wouldn't be greatly surprised, either. We get innovations all the time, and real breakthroughs once in a while.

That wouldn't work either, because THEY would soon be upset that the US wasn't giving them the money/technology/weapons/medicines/food/etc. that they need to finish transforming the world into their dream.
