There's a bit of a list of implications that go along with being a Marked Man... err... Dog-Fox.
For one, it means that he is welcome on her territory. That's enough to get him through the gate.
Also... Well... When everyone around you has a nose like a bloodhound, carrying someone's scent mark just about the biggest public display of affection you can imagine. It's like carrying a picket sign around reading "Hey! I'm with her!"
There's more to it than that, but I'll let you all speculate on the rest.
