It's not fan service, it's SATIRE!

See, I'm actually making fun of the guys who like this stuff. Really.

I don't mind it, i just don't like it when krow tells me one thing and does the exact opposite.

it's fan service thinly veiled as satire!!

Krakow features a succubus dressed in a leather bustier. Krakow 2.0 features an assassin dressed in a leather catsuit. The whole goddam comic is fanservice. But I draw the line at trying to pass off fanservice as a joke in itself.

And, as your sigline says "egad, no bondage?" Are you trying to walk the line like EN and have a pusedo-plot amid the fanservice or what?

Heh, you make it sound like I put more thought into the comic than I actually do. No, the sig is a a palindrome, you know, things that are read the same forwards as backwards?

There's been sex, pseudo plot, whatever in Krakow, but the most important thing to me is for it to be funny. I try to make every strip funny by itself, even without it being necessary to read the previous strips.

OK, I'm feeling more erudite today than I was last night. What I meant to say is that the sex appeal isn't just thrown in for the sake of fan service, it's used for the jokes.

What the hell is wrong with fanservice, anyway, that all these artists feel they have to defend themselves? Poe gets his self-hate on for drawing EN, and constantly makes himself out as some horrible person because he draws sex. Piro always has to have Seraphim in the comics to assure that any possible minor hint of hentai in his own comic is damn sure contrasted.
So what the hell is wrong with fanservice, anyway? The artist likes to draw pretty girls, people like looking at pretty girls, so what's the big deal if there are pretty girls baring bits of themselves?

Actually, Rookie is responding to me censuring Poe for fan service. It's not that I'm totally against fan service, I just feel that the whole, "Look at me, I'm doing fan service!" joke as a punchline in itself is really tired.

Although I'm personally kinda embarassed about the 1,000,000 hits pic I did, the pose came out looking a bit more, um, "spread eagled" than I intended it to.

Hm. I do agree, the "Look! Tits! It's a joke! HA!" thing has been done to death. But then again, so has ""Look, I'm mocking fanservice by giving it! HA!" ^^;
Which, I dunno, I never saw you as doing, so you'd have to tell me if that was it. But I see fanservice as sort of the steak sauce. The steak (anime, manga, webcomic, whatever) is good without it, but with it, it's just that much better.
I've been watching the fansubbed CLAMP anime Chobits. And while there's plenty of fanservice, a lot of it very nice, Chobits doesn't even leave me with an overall sexual imprint. The thing I think of most when I'm watching is how cute it is, how funny it is, and the hints at where things are going. Fanservice just makes it that much nicer to watch.
