TotQ challenge

Post by Tom Mazanec »

I just PMed Ralph a challenge. But it occurs to me that my voice alone will not change things, but maybe more can. So I propose that we ALL do this, and I challenge you to accept this.
Start this week. Keep count of how many TotQ strips he does from now until the 2007 CD is available for shipment (probably June). If he maintains an average of two strips a week until then, purchase the CD and include a seperate extra twenty with your purchase. By TotQ I mean strips in the Questorverse, not cards or HOs. He can do as many of those as he likes (they don't bother me that much, though they might if I still had dial-up...), they just don't count to his total. Next year, lather, rinse and repeat.
If I can afford this (my pay is just a fingerwidth above Ohio's new minimum wage) I am sure we all can. How about it?

Sounds good. And if you do better, Ralphie, I might buy a bit more stuff, too.

And if he maintains an average of one TotQ strip per week? That was the original schedule, when he had a solid schedule.

When he had no assurance of getting a penny. Just trying, like in that locked thread, to help him (while getting more TotQ, of course :-) ). Well, it is midnight Friday, off from the web I go for 24 hours penance...

Thanks Tom. Finally something we can work on.

Hey, you made me sign up the board, just for this (and I really didnt want to, being a liberal European Normalguy - I fear posting in this Forum would be like swimming in a Piranha Tank). If Ralph can do 2/week till June, theres 50 Dollars going in his tip box from my side of the Ocean. Heh. Swiss people are either rich, or like to wager to get their comic fix, eh?

Welcome, Merry! The more, the mer... OK, I won't say it, though I enjoy word-play far more than is quite healthy. Liberals in this forum have nothing to fear unless they cannot restrain themselves from insulting other people or aggrandizing themselves beyond all reason, in which case they tend to receive insults and mockery in return. Just like everywhere else in the world. That whole "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" thing...

As to the topic of this thread. I'm mildly interested in finding whether Ralph will agree to work a double-shift of comics along with whatever he does in "real life", but I won't pester him about it. It's his comic, and his schedule. I've bought a lot of his stuff, and I'll probably buy more, whether his comic comes out once a week or once a month.
Avoid those who speak badly of the people, for such wish to rule over you.

I've been reading this forum on and off for a while, and it doesn't take much to set Ralph off on one of his tiresome rants. He can be very .. shall we say, vituperative.

He's very quick to take a perceived disagreement and blow it out of proportion; if someone professes a "liberal" belief, Ralph pulls out his "liberal" mental template, assumes the person believes that entire set of stuff, and then starts insulting them. It's a common pattern in ideologues, and it's very much a logical fallacy.

Tell me you haven't seen it.

Oh, and I'd dearly love to see a Questor a week. Say, Friday. Then a buffer can be built up. It's hard to resist the temptation to post them in advance, I'm sure, but I think I speak for a lot of readers that regular is better than often. :)

Although irregular posting is a good way to pump up ad revenue, I suppose. :(

Unless some kind of wonder happens in the next few hours (its 12pm here already) the challenge is kind of busted for this week :shifty:

Was there any PM related business going on? (like: not enough people are joining the challenge or something like that...)

Well, we got 2 Weeks with 2 updates each :-?

So hows the art comming Ralph. I have two more to give you for $120.00 a piece. I'm eager to see what you come up with.

If I can get 100 strips per year (50 x 2 per week) then I'll pony up for the 2006 and 2007 CDs, and each year after that.

Buy the CDs anyway. They have great supplemental information on the Questorverse. The $20 extra is for twice a week, the CDs cost about ten bucks or so with shipping and stuff (forget exactly how much).

You didn't seem pushy to me.

A long (long) time ago - back when the strips were only a few months old, really - TotQ ran once a week on Sundays. UtLT ran three times - Monday /Wednesday /Friday, and N&T ran Tuesday /Thursday/ Saturday.
