I have to wonder how Sam will react to things when she wakes up. Still, there are worse ways to spend a night than sharing bodily warmth with something small and furry.

As for her reaction to "spider silk", she obviously hasn't thought it through. And she's really going to freak after she discovers what Quentyn's been wrapped up in all night...

"Aww, she's a cuddler!"

If that cloak is made of spider silk, it oughta not only be warm--it's probably freakin' bulletproof. LITERALLY. Spider silk is STRONG STUFF. I believe I read somewhere that spider-silk is something like 5 times stronger than steel..

It is, but it's also really deformable. The bullet might not penetrate the silk, but you'll still be badly injured (if not killed outright) by the shot.

My prediction is a lot of screaming.

I have been wondering just how things will turn out between them. Interspecies romance is fine for GH and N&T, but species distinction is more significant in this world. While Sam is a halfling, seeing her and a racconan as something more than friends has seemed very unlikely. Besides, he's had more interest in a certain barmaid and possibly Kestrel. Now I'm less certain. But then, being a straight male doesn't really reduce my temptation to cuddle Quentyn like a living teddy bear.

At any rate, before I scrolled down to the snuggle, I rather hoped that it was coming. I also like the spider talk, what with Quentyn so unclued to Sam's distaste. Spiders can be cute IMO, but only under the right circumstances. Think Charlotte.

Actually, tarantulas have been mede into pets...

Oy... I hate spiders. The only cute spiders are those small jumping ones in the window sill, and maybe daddy longlegs. All the others? They creep me out!

Also, is he smiling, or is that the natural curve of his muzzle?

Seconded, the bigger and hairier they are the faster i tend to be running when i see them.

Hein? She's a kid, and he's a fuzzy animal. And she's asleep. I've got a daughter who'll snuggle anything handy, too. I'm not ready to read anything more into it yet.

I get the same reaction to spiders. But tarantulas less so. But they do jump, and I think that would spook me too much. I've got some friends that found a big red banana tarantula while on tour in South Carolina. They kept it in their van as a pet for about three months. Nice kitty.

I thought it was cute, and only took it to mean that they're closer friends than they were when they first met. Like, right after she robbed him.
