I have very different tastes in music than most people my age. I like the old school music that my parents have on CDs, like Jethro Tull, Eric Clapton, Three Dog Night, Don Henley, and The Doors. What about you?

I have a rather eclectic collection of music. It includes medieval plainsong and folk music, baroque, romantic, classical, neoclassical, Big Band and swing, jazz, New Age, classic rock, heavy metal rock, movie soundtracks, electronic, and Celtic... among others.

About the only things it -doesn't- contain are (c)Rap, Nashville Country & Western, and Muzak.

Basically, I listen to anything that was produced before 1985. Classical, Classic Rock, Oldies, Jazz, even some older Country if I find Johnny Cash or Hank Williams. Modern and Classical Christain music escpecially. Modern stuff? Kinda of don't pay attention but if I had to pick....Smashmouth has a good beat. Ummm.....thats about it.

My absolute FAVORITE kind of music is when two kinds of music are blended to make something new. Like rock music with classical instruments (or vice versa.) I LOVE Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Techno, Linkin Park, Enya, upbeat celtic (for some reason), movie soundtracks (especially starwars), video game soundtracks (especially starwars ) (actually megaman2 has a special place in my heart as well as FF7), a little Rammstein, and a little of whatever's lying around.

I'm curious... have you ever encountered the famous 40's swing/70's acid rock mix that was written for the movie "Xanadu"?

I have not heard it, but I will look it up since you mention it. It sounds intersting.

Seriously, I didn't think ANYbody else had as eclectic (read: "weird") a taste in music as I did.....that's why I could never be a DJ....I'd be all over the landscape and could never actually put together a "themed" program.

Dude....you and I think too much alike.....and that's scarey!!

I am more or less open to all types of music, provided that

a. it doesn't sound like a chainsaw or someone gargling while trying to fight a pack of wolves, and
b. it doesn't have offensive lyrics. Sorry, Eminem.

My mp3 collection includes Keltic, Jewish, gospel, rock, country (or at least it sounds like country to me), pop, classical, and other types I'm not quite sure what they are.

If you can't find it, I have the original soundtrack on CD, and can probably give you a snip.

In the movie, you see two bands, seperated by a wall. The first is playing 1940's swing of the big band era, and dressed to fit. (Zoot suits, and the like). The other band is, obviously, a 70's punk, and THEIR dancers are dressed for the era.

Then, suddenly, the wall rises, and the stands that both bands are on begin to merge. The danders are shocked (and maybe a little fearful!) but the way the music merges is grand...

Sure....Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers... I have at least one of their CD's.....not a fanatic, but I like some of their music.
