Freeman Downs needs to appeal!!!!

I think Freeman Downs needs to appeal the decision of arbitrators on contract because it is flawed!!!

Check out the strip below.

Please note that they say they contracted Quintyn of Freeman Downs in the contract to retrieve the artifacts. They also informed the town folk that the contract also had a clause that held his titled successor to the contract. The only problem is Quintyn was Questor of Ridgedale not Freeman Downs!!! It also states on this strip that the land granted in the contract was parceled out after his death and eventually became the 7th village so Freeman Downs was not even a village at the time of the contract. Our Quintyn is the first Questor of Freeman Downs so he is not the successor of Quintyn of Ridgedale and the contract is not binding on him or the village.

But, hey I want to see him go because I like the story line. :)

they may have been refering to the land and territory (or there may have been a small town in the middle of the land with the same name) as freemand downs before he acquired it.

if that is so, then they may have moved his questorship to that territory when he signed the contract, since he technically could own it and has a lot of interest there he may be considered more a citizen of that area more then of Ridgedale at the time.

I dunno, just speculation and a quick explination that doesn't really hold water. maybe the contract only specified 'Quentyn's succesor' and then later they clarified this point that the successor had to come from freeman downs to count as his successor.

I thought of this little twist a while ago, after all, Quentyn I was "Quentyn of Ridgedale" by name. However, note that the journal he left Quentyn II (not the one Quentyn II got from Rilcreek) had a letter accompanying it adressed "to the questor of Freeman Downs from the questor of Freeman Downs". Presumably, this means that Quentyn I was at some point during his life in the seven villages known as such. Most likely, this was right before he left for his last quest, which suggests that Freeman Downs as such existed before he left and was merely augmented by the land he supplied.

Yes, but remember from the start of the strip when Quintyn became a Questor, the Questor is chosen by a challenge that is sanctioned by the village elders.

No village, no village elders, no sanction = no village Questor :o :o

Quote from the comic you posted:

"Quentyn took the land, moved his titular questorhood to the township and left to retrieve the items." (Emphasis mine). That little phrase tossed in there eliminates any wiggle room.

Exactly. As the page shown states, he moved his titular questorship to the township of Freeman Downs before he departed.
