I guess the rac cona didn't have enough biomass to be wiped out with the rest of the galaxy.

Or he discovers that the humans, rather then still living in the middle ages, are now enjoying a modern urban civilisation, which the Racconan have actively avoided due to a conspiracy started by the elders..
...Darnit, M. Night Shymalan, get out of my body!
You both implying that Rac conan have not contact from the people outside the mistwall. The open traders want
normalize the trade with other kingdom. There are contact with the outsiders, it's just that there are not as many that wished, it's rare. But since there are few contacts, if things like that had happen the rac conan should already know that.
Anyway, I hope that Gilder will give the respect that earned Quentyn. If it wasn't of his courage, he had lose all; his title of elder, his home, his representative and his ennemy had win. This is the second time that Quentyn save the open trader's butts. Gilder should considerate him as a solution instead that as a problem.
Maintenant ces terres vont vraiment appartenir aux villageois.
S.P.P.

One of the comments from that little discussion caught my attention, that the expansionist party claims "humans suspect we're in here but confirming it would be suicide." Guess what they just managed to do by sending Quentyn out... Gave them a bit more information to put together.

I think at this point Gilder and most of the rest of the village are considering Quentyn to be history. He's heading out past the Mistwall and they're not expecting him back. Or maybe a few brief visits here and there, but otherwise he's not going to be any sort of relevent player here. He's got a contract for life now.

I wonder if he gets a some sort of messenger familiar(a bird or something) to keep in contact with others. Or maybe he could just lux some bird to take a message back home(like we saw in Meanwhile III: Nessie). It would be kind of onesided but still better than nothing(though it probably has some distance limits).
btw has anyone counted how long Quentyn has been a questor now? I mean the minimum time counted from the tips given in the comic.

That would mean orbital satellites, meaning that the humans knew about them for a long while, meaning that someone managed to name the Rac Cona Daimh a bio-sanctuary, and there is a law against interfering with them, etc....

I'm just wondering about possibilities. For all we know, human civilization could be centuries ahead, or lagging far behind... how many years has it been since an actual human has been seen in Rac Conan territory?

Explorer came ~100 years ago, Dwarfs were in contact probably later (maybe it was the plague within the last 20 years, perhaps they were afraid of catching it, that made them stop). The outside world was about 15th Cen equivalent a century ago, so there are no orbital satellites. Maybe printing press, guns, lenses...

<a href="
http://npc.comicgenesis.com/d/20051019.html">HERE</a>
+3 days I know it doesn't say it's been three days but I'm judging from the time he left the barrel there in the comic just before it.
<a href="

unknown, maybe that day, maybe a day or two later.
<a href="

It's a job. Like any other job, you get rest breaks and you have to periodically go back to work otherwise you're fired for cause. I'm reasonably sure that any occupation that lasted long enough to be inscribed in village charters etc. has a body of law handling the frequency and length of such rest and recovery breaks. There might even be a definition of "dead" that doesn't meet the normal medical definition. Is a questor that survived but was quadraplegic or otherwise permanently incapacitated in the execution of his duties liable for non-execution? After a few generations of questors, the situation no doubt came up.
Quentyn's likely to be making periodic visits home, possibly even marrying and having children while 'on leave' over the course of his questing lifetime. The village would probably chip in for maintenance for his wife so that she can have a decent economic life while her husband is busy saving the village's butt.

Remembering that The Rac Conan Diamh have a history as an itinerant people, and given the types of potential love-interest we have seen, I would guess that Quentin's wife would be more like to COME WITH HIM on his travels, than to stay in the 7 villages all the time. Sojourner Church ministers do the same thing basically (or many of them do). They are almost all married, and their families travel with them... then again THEY have housing set aside for them in each area, and are remaining in friendly territory (well... except for the guy who went to the Gragum, but, as far as we know, he is not married).
