I wonder if he's going to give him something like Felix the Cat's "bottomless pit" type satchel.

It'll be able to carry anything. Up to 99 of any item, from a little bauble to a golf cart--yes, it'll hold 99 golf carts--but try to throw that 100th item in there and Bad Things will happen.

I'm a tad angry at myself for not thinking that rillcreek would be probably (other then his own parents) first and foremost in helping Quentyn, while probably not willing to do the task for him he certainly seems the type that would definately help
that and I love the seventh panel, how many times when you're trying to wrack your brain do you end up in a position like that?

gee maybe he has a way to teleport goods. That sure would help keeping him provisioned and getting the artifacts back to Freeman Downs.

Its not gonna be a Fellowship of the Rings thing, is it? Rillcreek as Gandalf, Quentyn as Frodo, Squidge as Sam......

I'm hoping for a Bag of Holding. That's one of my favorite DnD items.

You beat me to it.
But to be honest, I'd like to see Rillcreek helping Quentyn in a more mundane way, like giving him detailled information about the outside world; For example the locations of sages that might provide informations about the whereabouts of the artifacts and would help Quentyn to return the stuff. Powerful wizards rely on magic,
old wizards, however, rely on their brains.

Heh and there sit's squidge saying without saying things....
If he does give him such a bag, why then haven't we
seen more of those types of bags then???
also if the artifacts are big then how big???

No doubt the inventory list of the artifacts contains dimensions.

Hehe.... the
Bag of Holding is a typical item from the D&D roleplaying game, let's have a look at what happens when you combine it with a similar artifact from that game:
"If a bag of holding is placed within a portable hole a rift to the Astral Plane is torn in the space: Bag and hole alike are sucked into the void and forever lost. If a portable hole is placed within a bag of holding, it opens a gate to the Astral Plane: The hole, the bag, and any creatures within a 10-foot radius are drawn there, destroying the portable hole and bag of holding in the process."
(from the
D20 System Reference Document)
Might be a good idea to restrict the access to such objects if you don't want holes in spacetime appearing everywhere. Can you spell "Dimensional Rift"?

"The overpocket was infinitely capacious. The contents of an entire world could be placed within, and still it would be no larger than a man's hand."

Rillcreek is old and seems to have no family.
I suggest that he would prefer to die in one last quest rather than in a bed.
At the very least he would write himself into the History of the town whether the quest succeeds or not.
If it succeeds he will be remembered and by failing he will be remembered as helping save the town anyway.
For him it is a win win scenario.

Maybe he's gotten a foldbox like the ones in Heinlein's "Glory Road"?

most likely it's something to reduce something's weight by nullifying it's gravitational force and thus make it easier to lift manually.
or something like that.

Just to be different I predict that Rillcreek will give him a whistle. Yes a whistle and the sound of this whistle will call for a friggin' huge eagle that will carry the cargo back to Seven villages... um so yeah I guess Rillcreek is going to give him either some sort of carriage or a bag of holding. Or maybe a horse?

A horse is unlikely. You have to consider proportions with dealing with rac'conan. If a goat is about the size of a horse (proportionally) for rac'conan, a hrose would trample Quentyn, and anything he is likely to be carrying.

And maybe Rillcreek is the designated Questor-botherer and is going to drag him outside to see the cart and supplies the village has already donated for him on his quest?
