We're discussing. For arguing I use more of the shifted numerical keys. :)

I like this strip, it makes the lawyers not seem like big bad guys out for revenge. I am also curious as to who the weasel is. Darn those weasels, being so cute and furry, with their hypnotic dances*!

Also Madmoonie, sorry for hijacking your other thread, I really didn't mean to.

* = One of a weasels favorite foods is rabbit, however, the rabbit is much faster then the weasel. So the weasel will hop about and dance in front of a rabbit, slowly getting closer untill it can strike and kill the rabbit. It's mean and underhanded but really cute and silly.

if quentyn does go on this thing my main question is this, is there a way for him to be doing more then one quest at a time? I mean, what's his financial support while out there? I think it would be likely that if he were to go out there he would end up doing many smaller quests and eventually completing this one larger one.

also, I've worn a sword on my back, and youc an draw it if it's longer then your arm if you do it right and it's attatched right, remember that skin is not stone, it streatches and so do most strings and cords. I've also worn a sword 'with' a jacket on (it's hard to find me without one of my hoodies :P :D )

plus, Quentyn can just summon wildcard to his hand, what does it matter how he's holding it when it can draw itself quickly.

Only on the second or third read through.

And for the "discussion" about where Quentyn keeps his sword, as long as it works, I don't think it matters.

What happens if someone needs him at home and he's off getting artifacts?

The ol' home town got along for over a hundred years without a Quester. I'm sure they can survive without him between artifact drops/supply restocks.

I expect that the villiage council will be more than willing to fund his expidition. It would be far cheaper than loosing the village because he had to give up because of a lack of funds :-).

I think that these clerks (they don't seem to be ranked high enough to lawyers yet) will honestly try to help Quentyn in this. Will he still have to go? Yes, I think so. But they will also try to push through the fact that the fact that this going will still fufill the contract.

maybe, remember that Q's own father said that the town would be angry. there may be a few still upset and may blame quentyn for all the trouble in the first place.

add to it the idea that the town saves wether quentyn succeeds or not and suddenly it doesn't matter if they support him or not.

I don't think he can rely on the town for long term support, and if he takes the adventure it'll either be a long term one or it'll be short and fatal

I think that blowback from the town will be Rahan and his clique trying to make sure he "dies in the traces" and thus free them from both the contract and the obligation to pay for Questor support.

Suggestion for this chapter's title: "Prelude to the Quest", until he steps out of the Mistwall, and that chapter could be called, "The Quest Begins".

I highly suspect the village will be grateful to quentyn for Saving the village form the lawyers and guild. (Except for a couple people who will blame him, wrongly)

1. A quest like this--the end of this storyline could very well be the end of the comic. Q will likely be at this for the rest of his days.

2. While Rahan is scum, I don't think he's the type to go so far as to KILL another person.

I thought I had a solution to the problem, in having Q head off for an extended period, he doesn't contact anyone, they presume him legally dead and the quest ends, then he comes back--but when they find out he's alive they'll reverse that and he'll still be held liable. So that wouldn't work.

Yup...looks like Q is going on a LOOONG trip.

Yup, Q saves the village, and goes on the grandest quest ever.

Piece 'o cake.

Seriously.

Who does Quentyn know who's REALLY really good at finding things?

Hmmmm? Who, if he finds ONE, he just shows it to her and she sniffs out the rest?

The part I'm waiting for is when Quentyn runs into a human toddler who wants to cuddle "the kitty!"

:o

Well, the question is.....are there Brownies outside the mist wall? If so...they are very good at sniffing out items.

Maybe he will take some with him. I don't see him going alone. 8-)
