Oh, I wasn't saying saying the people who owned them now were criminals (unless they knew what they were buying were stolen) but I was more drawing a connection between the missing truck of art and the missing artifacts. About those missing weapons though. I think they would just a decorative element, because they would be a little small more human use.....I think. Unless they would used purely for their lux properties.

I wasn't saying they were criminals either. I'm saying that the current owners of the artifacts can be said to legitimately own them, in a way that receivers of stolen Nazi art (most of whom bought them in good faith and can't be said to be criminals either) cannot. To retrieve them will either require purchase or outright theft, unless by Rac Conan legal theories a misaddressed shipment does not become the property of whoever its sent to.

Gvassar wrote:So who is behind this plot?

It could be the expansionist behind this. They want Quentyn sent out and return with tales of how brutal and nasty humans are; or not return at all (revenge for getting in the way of the last plot?). Either result giving them an argument to take they land they feel is needed.

It could also be the Free-Traders however. It is there turn to hatch a plot. They want someone (Quentyn may not be the first choice, public opinion of him isn't all that high but they will take who they can get) sent out to establish some contact with the humans.

It could also be the "rulers"(council, elders, who ever is at the top of hierarchy). They just want information before deciding if they should open trade back up or try to annex some of the humans' land.

I doubt the Archivist's Guild is behind this. They are probably pawns pushed into action by greed. They either get the lost shipment back or tracks of land with upgrades (back rent???).

This does look like a lose-lose situation for Gilder however. If either the Expansionists or the Free-traders win, new resources (metals) would come in lowering the value of his stockpile of wealth. Not sending people out could cost him his land.

One last thought, Nessie with her ability "ken" items from a long ways away would be invaluable help in hunting down the artifacts. We just need to figure out a way to get her out of arms of her mother.
Welcome to the form Gvassar. I can see by your post that you have been a reader for a while. I hope you have read enough on the forum to know not to Feed Solidus. Oh and watch out for Wayfarer, she has been known to throw water balloons. :)

Has anyone else thought that Rose may be Quentyn, Questor of Ridgedales daughter and that's why the Lawyers came to her first. :o

Just a thought, back in 2004 some filler happened to show some of Quentyn a bit older seeming, and out on quests... one of them showed him in a 'group' picture.

Kestrel, at least, is there. I'm not certain about the other two.

I'm not sure where I heard this (so sorry Ralph if I'm saying something you didn't tell everyone on a whole but I've searched my e-mails and can't find for the life of me you saying it there so I've got to assume you said it elsewhere)...

but that kid with the glasses was someone who was kinda stuck in magesight 24/7 that's why he needed the glasses, so he could actually see. cause lux energies don't necessarily bend around physical objects. so while the kid is going "ooh look at the pretty lights" the cab driver is yelling "kid get out of the road!"

I hate to say it, but that was filler art, and just a little tinkering around with ideas. Ralph thought of having a team of Rac Conans go out adventuring, but cut things down a tad. Three of the characters lived on, most famous of which is Quentyn himself. Kes and Fen are also obvious.

As for the kid with the glasses, he seems to have lived on, at least in looks, as the Soothscribe kid Quentyn met. Not quite the same, but at least the idea went somewhere.

btw... why do you all think this is about Quentyn? Sure, the comic is about him, but this is a big place. :shifty: Not every little plot is exactly about him, even if he's involved...
