August, 1955...

Not the oldest, but far from the youngest.
I remember JFK, but just barely...

You're kidding? I was November 1957 and I remember JFK clearly. SOB got himself shot and took all the cartoons off the air for a -week-.

Okay, so I was a tad self-centered at that age. :D

I do remember the Alan Shephard launch, though. Was a space-mad bat in my youth, even after I realized I'd have to travel tourist class due to my eyesight.

Okay, so I'm not the oldest bat in the asylum, I'll give ya that (apologies to Skydancer). However, I am at the point where every year I realize I'm most certainly not getting any younger. And while I'm not that old, it reminds me that another year has passed. Also kinda reminds me that I haven't done anything with my life quite yet.

I hope to change that soon...
I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.

Well the hair's all there, but it's getting gray. I just turned the Big 3-0 last December, so I'm still a young-un to some of you.

Remember him? I voted for him! I turned 18 just barely a month before the 1974 election.

Not that I'm particularly fond of Nixon, but given the alternative in 1974, I'd vote for Nixon again, even though he's dead.

Don't worry, I am far older than I act. :D

Hee, hee, I hear you and can feel your pain  For some bizarre reason the Pittsburgh press went on strike so they cancelled Saturday morning cartoons to bring the public all the news they were missing without the newspapers! That went on for months! I had to wait until we got cable before I could get a decent cartoon fix again.

Well, If we're age labelling ourselves, let me see, what year is it again? 2006? That will make me 37 come May, only 63 left to go! =^^= (God willing, of course!)

May you have many more Wulf! :D

Wow. Lots of old fogies on this forum.

And I'm sitting here with my first impressions. According to me, you've all been twenty-something until you stated otherwise.

Stay away from my daughter - she turns 22 next month.

I remember Eisenhower speaking at my dad's college graduation in 1959 when I was 5 (and my dad 31). I turn 52 this year and my wife and I celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary to boot.

Thanks, Squeaky, for being older :D

I also remember going into the back yard and watching the Sputnik satellite

Feh, I'm really only middle aged. Too old for Gerber's and too young for Ensure.

Well, since Squeaky decided to "out" me, I'll turn 56 in May. I not only remember Eisenhower, I've MET Alan Sheppard, Walter Schirrah and Virgil "Gus" Grissom.

To quote Indiana Jones: "It's not the years, it's the mileage."......and Lordy......can I tell you about 'mileage'.

When I hit the big 5-0, my girlfriend had a cake decorated with pix of all the things I like to do, SCUBA dive, skydive, race boats and motorcycles etc...and the caption was: "Congratulations....you made it...in spite of your efforts!" :D

So I guess, with the possible exception of Uncle Monty, I'm probably the oldest fogie on these forums.....and I'm flattered that some thought I was in my twenties.

And finally, I was in 5th period math class when this kid came running into the room saying the President had just been shot....and the memory is still as clear as if it happened this morning.

And a very HAPPY, (if somewhat belated), BIRTHDAY to ya 'Wulf.....and many more to follow my friend.

Peace to all you young'uns out there.

The best I can do is September 11th. I was home sick from school, watching TV.
