Yeah, Fen is hooked. I guess the idea was like forcing a kid to smoke a whole pack of cigarettes...usually they get sick of it.
And what about the last panel? It seems to end in mid sentence.

But why was he suddenly hooked? He stayed away from it for a while. :-?

And I don't know what's up with that last line. Probably just a typo.

Oh. Now he's fixed it, I just noticed. :)

No, its just a trailing off, a lead in to the next strip, like the narrator's after thought.

But I was partly right however. He did pick up something...and judging by his actions, it may be something not.....good.

Quite likely. This is obviously a major stry arc, and Ralph would not do that for something trivial.

Maybe he picked up "The Ballad of John Henry" and didn't get to the end and he wants to know who won the race ;)

I was actually thinking that he might have heard a little something in the ring at first, not much but enough that he may have tried to muddle out the rest of it on his own. then when he failed to do that he decided to get the rest of it through the ring.

that'd explain the immediate disinterrest followed by the sudden obsession. maybe.

He probably picked up the tail end of a radio DJ

"We'll be back right after these messages"

and he's been waiting ever since :P

I am worried that something came through into his mind and now is gradually taking over and needs to go back to the ring to get stronger or bring something else through.

It sounds like the Fae Rath produces something like a simple crystal radio. Faint, barely discernable sounds, mixed between as many broadcasting stations are within the very broad range of its ability to tune, depending on how strong or near each transmitter is.
I spent many hours as a kid, trying to get clearer output from one of those crystal sets.
It's almost magical, picking up music from the air, with nothing but a coil of wire and a chunk of rock...

The Rac Cona Daimh need to invent a signal amplifier. Maybe as an outgrowth of a project to help the lux-blind detect lux force?

Ironically enough 'amplifier' was, in a way(technically I think it is 'buffer', but I would think it would be the same thing in a lot of situations), one of the eight runes that got invented in the creation of Wildcard... granted it was Kestral who did it, but Fen was there, so it is ironic I think.

In many story lines like this would have Fen being contacted and influnced by someone or something evil.

It keeps him strung along to do it's bidding and makes him tell no one. Something or someone very evil.

Does Rosad Beither's ghost come to mind? :o

Just a thought. :)

Well, lux can't contact the dead, Ralph says, so a "ghost" is unlikely.
Still, there are a lot of worlds out there, probably with varying laws of science, technology and magic...

Ah, but there is no such thing as magic! Well, in the Questorverse.

I wonder about that though taking into consideration Thanatanous The Mage. http://npc.comicgenesis.com/d/20040802.html

Humans can't see lux energy so they can't use it, correct? So why was this guy called a mage(I assume he was a human but at least he wasn't a racconan)? Or can humans use lux without really seeing what they are doing or is there really magic?
