"Get in there you big, furry oaf! I don't care what you smell!"

Wonderful stuff. :)

Kind of makes you wonder what happened to his brain between '83 and '99.

no, no, no...

*sighs*

now you've got me started

"I'm luke skywalker I'm here to rescue you!"
"you're who?"
"I'm here to rescue you, I've got you're R2 unit I'm here with Ben kenobi"
"Ben Kenobi where is he?!"
"come on"
-scene change-
GMT "obiwan kenobi, what makes you think so?"
Vader "a tremor in the force, the last time I felt it, was in the presence of my old master"
"surely he must be dead by now"
"don't underestimate the force"
"the Jedi are extinct their order long forgotten, you my friend are the last of their religion"
*beep*
GMT "yes"
"we have a secrutiy alert in detention block AA23"
"the princess? put all sections on alert!
Vader "Obiwan is here, the force is with him"
Gmt "if you're right, he must not be allowed to escape"
"escape is not his plan, I must face him alone.

ok, ok, I know I relly messed up Tarkin's line up there but that was the closest I could remember him saying.

also, you know howmany people quote "luke, I am your father" and never give StarWars credit? did you know they don't have to? nowhere in Starwars does any of the characters specifically say "Luke I am your father", for future reference Vader says "no, I am your father"

(and yes I am hearing his voice in my head right now as I try recalling it.
I still say the doctor did it....

Yup, that's what Vader said. But what David Prowse (the man inside the suit) said was "Obi-wan killed your father."

Yup, to keep the father bit a secret. And well. that was also true, from a certain point of view.

Jedi to English translation:

"...from a certain point of view." = "I'm lying through my teeth right now."

[...unWARP!]

Good evening.

"This is some rescue!"

And when James Earl Jones read "I AM YOUR FATHER" when he was doing the VO, he thought, "That is a lie. I wonder how they're going to play out that lie."

my problem is this

obiwan(RTOTJ)"Luke, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to, depend greatly on our own point of view"

anakin(EP3)"from my point of view the Jedi ar evil"
abiwan(in responce)"well then you are lost!"

what happened to EP1, 2, and 3?

hype, that's what.

too much hype and the trend to ride it. too many 'sequels' or '2s' that come out that do nothing more then ride the wave of hype that the origional made. a few exceptions may include empire strikes back (to this day my fav of the starwars movies) and shrek2

What I don't understand is how the logic of the prequels flows. My main thing is the ol' "I can't stand anyone who discriminates against others based on nationality. And the French." comment in Ep. 3.

A: "If you're not with me, you're against me!"
O: "Only Siths deal in absolutes!"

So, by that, Obi-wan is a Sith.

The only reason to watch the movies in order is to get toi the good ones at the end.

P.S. I agree on Empire being the best of them all. 8)

I've for a long time wanted to do a 'comic' that both makes minor edits to the origional 3 movies and makes fun of itself (such I have the actors for darth maul and jar jar switch places so jar jar can kill someone, also jar jar is constantly dying, the director doesn't care and keeps in all the bloopers (something that should be shown in the ending credits of most all movies I say) the person playing padme is actually pregnant in the third movie and acts like it, there is hardly any of the excessive sword swinging and most lightsaber battles are less flashy and more deadly, obiwan doesn't have a mustasch...yeah, oh and they'd all be furry characters and anakin's furr burns off all the time which annoys him considerably)

yeah, I have way too much time on my mind... :P

No, don't run. I understand that there are people that like them. I don't mind watching them as pop corn, turn my brain off movies. But they don't hold a candle to the originals, IMHO.

They had some interesting points, but leaving aside the "quality" issues, I found a lot of them ... disturbing. In the first three movies, the Jedi were unambiguously the Good Guys. In the prequels... I found they were just another amoral power group.

Watto:"don't get a me wrong though"

I like the fact that Lukas did the new three movies. and the more I watch E3 the less I disagree with it. more disagreement came from thinking the movies would turn out as I thought they would silly me, Lukas decides what happens not me!

still I like my sw parody idea, just as entertainment value.

my bro's pointed out to me that there was nothing 'wrong' with E3, it's just a few little things that could have worked out a little bit better.

when the big ship crashes near the beginning and Obiwan says "another happy landing" I wish some piece of the roof would fall down behind him just to emphsize the point.

oh, well... it's not like it was my childhood dream to actually make a starwars blaster (beacause I thought the lightsaber was too unrealistic) and it was brutally crushed by modern science's total lack of understanding of plasmetic phenomenon and how to control and project plasma projectiles.

oh wait, yes it was... um ah nevermind.

I guess one of my main problems with Ep. 3 is the 10 minutes at the end where it's "Quick! Let's rush through all the dangling plot thread so we can link to Ep. 4!"

Personally, if Lucas had taken Ep. 2 & 3 and turned them into 3 movies (drop Ep. 1 entirely) and let someone else direct them, it could have been great. Instead we have Bleah.

Empire was the best of the lot, and the prequals could have been cut down to just 2 movies. way too much fluff and filler in I and II.

I think part of it is that a fair share of us that are in our late twenties early thirties were exposed to the originals first, to us, nothing can hold a candle to them.

Now to someone say the kids from GH's age who were first truely exposed through Phantom Menace and the new trilogy, they might feel that the first three are better.

*blinkblink*

I think I just demonstrated Kenobi's Principle of Certain Point of View there.....

Not quite the same as saying "[Vader] betrayed and murdered your father" meaning "Your father fell from grace but I don't think an 18 year old is mature enough to handle that fact, so I'll make you hate him instead."

I'm not in my twenties or thirties, and I saw the first three when I was like seven. I watched them over and over and over... the part where the Emperor zorches Luke in "Return of the Jedi" always kinda scared me though.

I only really enjoyed the third episode of the new trilogy though. Such high expectations, and they were all dashed to pieces! Waaagh! It was definitely a decent end to the series, in my opinion.

I did like how the KOTOR series touched on the corruption of the Jedi without them even being aware that they were probably just as autocratic as the Sith, though. The ending to that series, though, was a little lackluster to me.
"Every revolutionary idea seems to evoke three stages of reaction. They may be summed up by the phrases: (1) It's completely impossible. (2) It's possible, but it's not worth doing. (3) I said it was a good idea all along."

Heh, I think the main problem was that Lucas had his ego grow too much, he failed to realize that there were others that made the first set of movies good. So he thought he was the best of the best and tried to do too much of the new series, he should have let others handle it.
