Well, maybe not on his side, but in his own words, he's the only one taking it seriously. :P So your prediction is partly true. Gilder's alone in his view. And it's not really a grudge so much as a concern that the beuracrats will destroy the Questor and everything he holds dear... including the village he comes from.

Beuracrats are some of the most vicious and spiteful people. You cross them and they will pull nearly every string they can to screw up your life. A few of them probably won't be legal, but who's going to question them about it?

Hmm... how many of you are willing to bet some people on the Council wish they'd never heard of the tiny village of Freeman Downs?
I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.

You mean like Hillary and the travel office? Or the people who offended Bill C. with their honesty being suddenly targets of IRS audits among other things?
Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defence. :shucks:

Hnh, I remember that.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

That's a difinite possibility, but the message didn't give any indication of those feelings......but as you suggest, that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't there.

I thought that every village had its own council of elders, and that there was a larger governing body to be found in Sanctuary. Like most states have their own senate and house, and then there is the senate and house in Washington.
