(ROARS IN LAUGHTER) Perfect! I love it. Ya know, I wonder if Quntyen understands just what he has uncovered. I don't think he understands the implication of the gold and the crime ring he uncovered. Can't wait to see what happens.

Deeper and deeper into the seedy underworld, and crushed nuts on top.

His pride wont let him say anything else. Not like it would do him any good anyway.

There is the distinct possibility that Quentyn now owes the guards a favor that needs to be repaid, such as helping them to get to the bottom of this.

Or they could want Quentyn out of town as fast as possible.

More than mere pride there. He's showing quite a lot of self discipline.
While I can't like the character, I can grudgingly admire him.

I can understand that.

this is the first time that whole incident really caused me to laugh.

no shame in admitting you got beat.

[...unWARP!!!]

Good evening.

Won't he be charged with assault and battery on a guardsman on duty WITH witnesses to back him up?

No, wait....not unless he wants to be humiliated by stating WHERE the "battery" hit.

Zacatepongolas!

Well I did get an answer to my earlier post.
Oh it was preplanned all right. How else could they have that many guards assembled and on a luft ship and flown to the area and arrive right after Quentyn just gets Wildcard back. If they only started the process after the Lux Bomb, it would take at least 15 minutes to load up and get airborne with that many people. Add to that the flight time... This has to be a preplanned raid.....
It was a planned sting not a reaction to the Lux Bomb. :) :)

There is one thing Quentyn could and probably should do here, and that would be to apologize to Mulharney.

Something like, "I'm sorry I had to do that, but you almost blew my cover"?

There might be another reason he doesn't want to report it. It would reveal that he let his guard down long enough for someone to physically assault him where he could have easily deflected the attack.

I think you are right. I think ye was just embarased that this little kid beat him, in so.......clear a way, that Mulharney didn't stop it. I also agree that it help it QUnetyn tries to apologize. I think Mulharney would accept it, eventually if not at first.

Yeah, that is the main reason.

Yeah, that would be a good idea, though he might ought to wait and catch Mulharney out in the hall afterward to do so.

He should apologize, but definitely in private. Mulharney's decided not to press the issue, so he needs to reassure him that he'll keep the secret, too. Though what to do about Scratch and the other gangers who've heard the story....

Yeah, but who's going to believe them? A member of a gang walks up to them and starts telling a story about some kid they met who, conveniently, beat up their enemy in a humiliating way? The enemy who just happened to be a respected guardsmen? I'd be more likely to suspect it was just a story.

Well in telling that they'd have to reveal that the kid is the same reason they are currently enjoying a stay in the slammer. Either they wont want to praise the person who got them locked up, or they think that (seeing as a questor is as good as a junior guardsman) it mightve been set up to get quent in to the gang in the first place.
