Downloading Lovecraft's Diary

Post by Tom Mazanec »

I understand some of you have downloaded LD. I just spoke to a friend of mine who is a Lovecraft fanatic and a computer nerd, and he says a lot of fonts have spyware incorporated in them. Is this true? Has anyone had any problems downloading any fonts (not just LD, though that is the one most in our area of interest)?

Not really. Blambot fonts (where you can get LD) seems pretty trustworty.

BTW, in researching LD, I came across a font called "Miskatonic". It looks like weird penmanship. Perhaps rhat is how Racconans write instead of print!

If RHjr ever needs a different font to show human writing, wizardspeak looks pretty good.

Aaaahhh...guys (and gals)? Anybody want to tell me what the default notepad font is? I was playing around with the four fonts mentioned, and found out that it changes EVERY notepad file. I would like to get the "look and feel" of notepad back, not just be able to read it.

If it's fixed pitch (i.e. every character is the same width) then it's probably Courier New. If it's proportional, then it's probably Times New Roman.

Better yet, open up Notepad on the computer you're used to, and click on Format / Font to see what it's using.

The fonts I mentioned all come from the same person.
Is there anyway I can mix fonts in a document?

Of course there is!

Just highlight whatever you want in a different font, and then change it according to the method available for your particular word processor.

Correct, assuming the document in question is in a file format that retains formatting information, such as .rtf, .doc, or even html.

A .txt file is just that, plain text, no formatting information. You can add fonts and other formatting while viewing it in many word processors, but you'll need to save it in a different format such as rtf if you want to retain it for future viewing.
