Human coins
What's up with Quentyn finding human coins in two places? My guess is that some nefarious humans are cultivating Racconan traitors.
Perhaps, but not necessarily. In Rac-conan history the dire swamps have been the site of heavy combat in the past. I believe that is why they were formed them in the first place. The last major fight involved something like five kingdoms plus the wizards guild. There still may be some booty hidden in the mire from years past.
Of course human coin might come from other sources as well...

I think it is more trading than traitors. My guess is the guy who buys the stuff from the gangs sells it to humans. Just a few gold coins could pay for the stuff in the Racconidim ecconomy, but humans would pay a lot more for them. They give a little of what they make to the gangs and keep the rest.
That's my $0.02.

The chest of gold was in the dire swamp and Nessie "asked" (via lux mental suggestion abilities - forgot what they're called) the mudgullet to pick it up and bring it... but essentially, yeah.

hehehe, that just reminds me of an episode of angry beavers, dont know if anyone saw it, but to cut a long story short when one of the two brothers wanted to "weedle" something out of the other he'd follow him round incessantly poking him with a finger and going "weedle weedle weedle" until he got what he wanted
