this is turning into quite an ordeal for quentyn. first what happened at the party, and now this. i hope something worthwhile comes out of all this for our hero, something better than that he made it out alive.

How will our hero get Wildcard now?
He's worse off than when he started, injured to no small degree, the Royals know who he is and think he works for the guard, and he has no power...it will almost take a deus ex machina to get him out of this one!

But didn't everyone leave?

Because every hero has to get the ever lovin' sh** stomped out of 'em by the bad guys at least once....thus making takin' them and the whole rotten lot down that much sweeter.

However, if the Royals do dump Quentyn on the Guardsmen's doorstep as a "message", it could actually go a bit better for him....possibly giving credence to his statements that he's not with any gangs....especially the Royals...possibly even with Mulharney.....ehhhh....mebee not with him.

And thus another villian decides instead of slashing the hero's through with that pointy stick, he'll just take more effort beat the fark out of the hero.

Couldn't the rat-wights have counted for his obligatory getting-beaten-up experience?

But I guess this is what you do in a story. At least we know that he gets out of it and on his way eventually.

im not going to say that i saw this comming, because its so much worse than anything i was considering ... even factoring in murphie's and the pessimism i thought i was feeling due to exams ... guess there was still optimism underneath all that (or i was just being argumentitive )

Actually it's a slasher stick, and they (Royals) have a point...at least from their perspective he's with the guardsmen and if they kill him, it'd be like killing a cop in our world.....the rest of the cops/guardsmen will stop at nothing to find who did it.......they don't want that kind of heat. And I don't think they'd cut him up or maim him in any way, like blind him or slash off his ears, tip of his nose or tail as that would also have the same effect....again this is from the Royals perspective.

They are going to beat the ever lovin' crap out of our hero and quite possibly break a few bones in the process........whatever the outcome, Quentyn's about to get the worst beating of his life......but he will survive it.

Not a fearful threat M'Lady....simply a statement of fact. I am now officially un-wired.....which in my case might not be too far removed fron "un-hinged". >o.0<

No doubt....but he'll survive it....bruised, battered and bloodied....but not bowed.....never bowed.

That was a battle....this is a cowardly beating. Quentyn took the fight to the rat-wights and fought his way thru them to get to and kill the rat king. These cowards are going to not only gang beat him, but at least 2 of them are going to hold Quentyn's arms so that he has no chance of defense. And this is probably the first of several such beatings Quentyn will experience in his life as a Questor.

I'm not making light of this, Quentyn is gonna get beaten badly....but fear of reprisals from the guardsmen will keep the beating from being too bad.....I expect Q to spend a week or so at the healers.......hmmmmm wonder if Healer Raintree holds a grudge.

Oh dear Yeshua, help him please. A week? Oh....if he is able to walk, he will be lucky. It is good fortune that they think he is some junior cop, because he is going to receive a terrible beating. I...I just don't want to even consider what they are going to do to him. But at least he will live. And, as it has been said, help him win some points with the guards.

WALK????? I'm expecting them to beat him unconscious and dump him on their doorstep...or leave him in or near the public bathing fountain. Remember the leaders words about...."sending a message to the guardsmen"......they don't want him dead and they want him to be found.

Just because hes left alive doesn't mean they dont kill him. Quentyn can still be techinically alive with two broken legs, arms, multiple broken ribs, lascerations, and severe blood loss. Yes, technically he's still alive, but the Royals boss is severly angry, and hates the Guards. He is going let Quentyn feel the full force of his anger. And the fact that Quentyn doesn't want to remember the next several hours means they beat on him for a long time. As I said, Quentyn is going to be lucky to walk again.
