Hey, Hey, Hey Guys back off a little and use your heads.

1. We know Quentyn comes through this because it is passed tense that he would rather not remember. :o :o

2. Ralph reads these forums and is just having some fun playing some head games with us. Why else would he start the strip with I bet some of you figure I would jump up and grab the sword.... :) :)

3. I have things that I done that I would rather not remember where I was not even hurt. In fact feeling no pain at all comes to mind. The rest of that evening is a little fuzzy though.....

I recall falling off my bike and scraping my head against the pavement,

I also recall my mom and brothers walking me home.

I don't recall it hurting any.
I still say the doctor did it....

Luckily it's not as bad as it could have been. As already stated, it's being narrated in past tense, so he made it through. Also, he was recognized - and they decided to keep him alive. If he hadn't been recognized, they would have killed him and that would have been the end. So... not as bad as it could have been... but pretty darn close.

We just have to hope that they don't beat up Quentyn too badly before help arrives or something, else he may completely lose his chance to get Wildcard back. Afterall, if I was the gang leader and I believed I just had a junior guardsman spy on me, and possibly catch of glimpse my latest "business exchange" with my shady buyer, I would tell the lieutenants to gather up part of the gang to move anything essential to a secondary hideout, and then have them inform the rest to meet up there, incase Quentyn was able to say enough to the guardsmen to warrent an investigation. Worse yet, now would probably be the best time to go to a secondary location, since they just unloaded almost everything they stolen.

If they're taiking a couple hours to focus on Quentyn, and noone's paying attention to Wildcard...

Think about it, the tappers burn out quick, Quentyn fried their fresh stash and any few that would've survived would've been spent draining the first few cronies that walked in, and the last time the tapper's were changed was right before the deal went down... The instant Wildcard gets enough of a charge to react to Quentyn's distress...

Uh-uh. The Royals may be scattered, but if any of the boss's lieutenants decides to holler for them to come back, all hell will break loose. Remember the Royals know the terrain better, and might travel about two or three times as fast as Quentyn would, so by the time Q manages to grab WC, rid himself of any guards and manages to find an escape route, the Royals would be well underway and may already be arriving. Mucha mucha troublas.
I told you so.

I know this is off-topic, but right now, my house is being dried out because of a water leak, and it's really dust in here, so I'm wearing a pair of goggles over my glasses, as well as a dust mask.

Thank you. I'm pretty sure they've got more tappers than you indicated--there were a lot of boxes--however, I was wondering why noone else was factoring in the fact that one of the ways to control Wildcard had just been compromised. The Royals were getting the tappers from someone who probably hasn't given them any contact info. They will eventually run out, though not necessarily in a few hours. It's more likely to be days.

One way or another, Quentyn is getting Wildcard back, even if it's the way he's been trying to prevent. How much damage can the sword do trying to get back to an unconcious Quentyn?

(Unless, of course, Wildcard gets wrapped in magesilk again. But, that won't drain it's charge, will it?)
