[...unWARP!!!]

Good evening.

Not to be rude, but don't get exasperated when people keep asking if you're going to insist on adding it to every single post you write.

You're right, my apologies. Posting from the office, too...

3 easy ways to guarantee insulting someone unintentionally with a post.

1) posting just after you wake up
2) posting whilst at work/doing homework/thinking about annoying stuff like exams
3) posting about ways that people insult each other unintentionally  :P

Whoa..whoa...WHOA!!!

By no means did I feel insulted by JAM's response, and my "thank you" was genuine.

If any of y'all have sorta jumped on this on my behalf, I thank you all for the support, but there was NO INSULT or BELITTLEMENT felt by me in any way shape or form.

And I can understand JAM's minor irritation at being asked the same thing over and over after he's explained it in detail at least a couple of times.

JAM, thank you for the explanation, my apologies for scratching a sensetive spot.

To everyone who's mildly chastised JAM for his response to my post, THANK YOU MUCH for the support, but in this case it was slightly misdirected.

(Personally, I think everyone is overreacting.)

Sharuuk: I can't find any evidence that Aurrin was specifically defending you. Unless Aurrin specifically confirms this, I see no reason to assume. I think you may have pulled a little "ad hoc, ergo prompter hoc" (after this, therefore because of this) logic error.

CV....re-read the 1st 12 words of the 3rd sentance.....it begins with "If". I didn't know if any of the criticizm directed at JAM was in my behalf, but I felt JAM was being treated a bit harshly for the way he answered my question.....and I said so.

And I agree that everyone pretty much overreacted.

Not criticising, i was just making a general comment on when JAM said he was posting at work ... ironically, i was also posting while studying for exams. SO IT PROVES THE LIST WORKS!

I suspect that no one, no matter their education or skill, would be able to map the directions these threads take. They rarely, if ever, go straight, and then only for a little while. They're full of hairpins, loop-de-loops, roundabouts (mostly between two debaters that nobody listens to), s-curves, v-curves, z-curves, and a few more from the alphabet as well.

Anyone trying to document the path any one thread takes is liable to either go insane, get lost, or add to the problem. Or all three. And about 75% or more of the forumites here tend to fit the first and last conditions perfectly.
I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.

It's quite easy to map out the directions that a typical thread takes.

So our threads get a bit frayed...
Okay, more than a bit.
They come completely unraveled.
But they're still more fun that way.

It was a fairly mild rebuke. Don't take it too heavily on any side, please.

Sure, staying on topic is nice.....but the tangents we get off on are what makes these forums so much fun.

I don't recall seeing any commandment of "Thou shalt not deviate from the established thread topic"......and I for one am glad of it.

Of course. It's the hilarity of it that makes it so entertaining.
