Hmm, any 're-thinks' on what those wards are? I doubt they had the power to brake the bond, and as Quintyn can still 'feel' it, technicaly it should still be working. My bets either that those wards are doing somthing other then stemming the lux flow. Either that, or there is one other posiblity. Look at the blade, its tiny compaired to the last time we saw WC. Is it posible that this isn't wildcard? Just another sword that happened to fall into Royal hands?

See, it could just be artest error, though for the size of the diffrence it feels unlikely, WC's blade is almost twice as thick as the one in the cabinate.
Maybe... ok this is a hidiously long shot. But what if the Royals sold WC on already and this is just a trophy replacement that was endowed with a simple glow charm?

Could be, i almost dismissed it as an error, but it wouldnt be the first time RH has left a subtle hint in his drawings ^^
Im looking forward to when the "Mr Big" is revealed, i wonder if we were anywhere close with our rendition

EDIT: You posted that gif too quickly there bro, i was still typing my initial response ^^ The difference is pretty pronounced ... now i feel silly for not considering that earlier

I know who Mr. Big is.................................. PRINCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a purple sword after all.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

You know, I've been thinking. Those three guys quintyn was playing chess with in the tavern mentioned about someone high up who was taking sick leave regulary. They explained it away on lux hangover, drawing too much power, but what if that person were only faking sick leave? What if he's been using it as an excuse when ever he's had to have buisness with the royals? It kinda makesence, who ever it is they were talking about is high up in the ranks and posible could have been the one quin overheared at the party he snuck into. it'd be a pritty big coinsudence, but then again, a remote posiblity none the less.

Good evening.
However, if he broke through the wards, wouldn't Wildcard immediately recharge, sucking in all lux in a 100 m radius? And even if an alarm was set off, wouldn't Wildcard immediately sense Quentyn was in trouble and start shooting lightning bolts at whoever tried to attack?

I don't say that the sword difference is due to an artistic error. A bond as strong as that should cut through interfearence like a ward. So I say the search is still on.

WC dose recharge quickly, but not that quickly, more like hours. Plus remember Quintyn's been in trouble before now, WC should have already come to his aid. I think those wards have either blocked the 'sensory' capasity of the hart rune, meening niether can tell where the other is or what state their in, or that isn't WC atall. The JAM wrote:

Hmmm.....he collects magical items...sells them for 10 times what they are worth on the open market...and gets human coins.
Someone is selling magical items to humans. That's the obvious conclusion.
Why steal them rather than buy them? Whoever Viktor is selling them to cannot be seen buying and selling magical items is why. If he buys items on the open market and they just disappear, someone is going to be asking a lot of questions.
People *expect* stolen items to disappear.

I agree with Maxgoof. Those two that were seen behind that curtain, they were undoubtably those "poshes" that the Redcaps referred to. They cannot be traced to trafficing large amounts of stolen lux objects, but with all this human gold flowing about, where are the objects after the buyer gets them? Do the humans have a similar design on the Raconan as the expantionists do on the humans?

Out of curiosity, what would eventually happen to Quentyn because of the bond if he and Wildcard were to remain separated for a much longer period of time, such as if Quentyn were never able to make it this far before WC got sold to parts unknown, or if Mulharney suceeded in getting Quentyn put away for longer than we want to think about?

I just thought of something. Do you remember this "pax" that the gangs are tentively following? What if they are all doing something like this? What if these shadow racs (that is what I am calling these conspirators) are getting all these gangs to amass all these lux objects to sell to them? What is there is their purpose, and this goes back to my previous question, how does tis involve humans?
Just as an afterthought, after this transfer to the guy who is buying all this stuff, all these Royals will probably wind up dead.

From what the poshes were saying, it sounds like the idea is to give the impression that the gangs are stealing magical items and selling them to humans. They will seal the borders (which plays into the hands of the expansionists, whom these two are likely) and crack down on the gangs at the same time.Madmoonie wrote:I agree with Maxgoof. I totally agree with you there. That does seem like the most likely outcome.

Okay, here's my theory, and this comes off the top of my head, not from un-named but known sources, that other forum denizens use. *cough*solidus*cough*Madmoonie wrote:I just thought of something. These "poshes" as they have been called are probably politicians who are encouraging the gangs to keep the warfare amongst themselves in a truce, by paying them all with human coins. They are buying magical items stolen by the gangs for high prices, and are then selling these items to humans in exchange for more gold coins, which then get put back into the hands of the gangs.
These same poshes will, when the time is right, suddenly discover this plot by the gangs to sell stolen items to humans. This, will do several things--make the open traders look bad, get the council to seal the borders better, and crack down on the gangs. You think anyone in the gangs are gonna be believed when they tell anyone that the same poshes who unveiled this plot were actually the ones behind it? They're just hoodlums trying to get out of their just punishment.

So, either Wildcard has already been sold (and that's a souvenir replica), or the wards are a -lot- more effective than they should be.
As far as the gangers not being believed - that's where Our Hero comes in. Mulharney, much as he'll hate to admit it, knows he was in the ritzy neighborhood that night, and so does that entire room full of society snobs.
I'm not sure they wouldn't be believed, though. Make enough ruckus to demand a hearing on the soothstone, and there'll be a bit of a problem. The Racconans have a -working- lie detector, after all, not one of our ridiculous polygraphs.

The soothstone is not a lie detector. There was a whole big thread about it. Reveals the hearts desire, or something like. I think. I am not sure?

A soothstone merely tells you whether a person truly believes something or not. Larger versions also have the feature of showing small flickers of hidden emotions, like the one the council has that was featured in the Between Worlds RP. These can be read to get a good feel of what the person is feeling at the time.
They can't tell you if what a person believes is true, but they do tell you if they're lying. The lie could be a truth, but they'd have to believe it to be a lie in order for it to show up as one.
And as for the sword...
*whaps several people over the head with a large trout* Enough!
You people think you know Quentyn's sword better than he does? That he wouldn't recognize it at first glance, even without the bond?
I've had enough of this. Chalk it up to artistic error, okay? The sword is on "empty", it's the same sword, and it did not lose mass.
Honestly, when did common sense become rarer than diamonds?

I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.
