Looks like Quentyn got in pretty good, all right. Maybe a little too good, he seems to be thinking in the last panel.
How closely do you suppose Quentyn is being watched by the gangleader for his reaction to things like tossing around gold coins, the gal, or whatever may be in store in the next comic?

Depends entirly on how smart the Gang leader is, which all in all, given that he's probably been given those coins by the people who are trying to distablise the tumbledown, probably isn't that smart.
Gold coins, genious. They can't be traced in anyway, have a very high value per unit and clearly arn't exactly in short suply to whom ever is funding them.

I doubt that he's being watched at all. After all, he did rescue Scratch from 3 Red Caps and then the both of them from Mulharney. Scratch is probably pretty well trusted and the fact that he even brought Quentyn to the hideout in the first place, and then straight to the leader........that is going to go a long way in makeing most if not all of the others fairly relaxed and not un-comfortable with him.
How he handles this buxom looking maiden is another story.......if he's not careful, rebuffing her advances, if they come, could prove to me more than just "awkward". I think this particular situation could either prove to be advantageous, or catastrophic depending entirely on how he plays it.

I supose their own "caution" level would partially depend on how often they have "guests" over for dinner.

I think Quentyn is about the extent.

Personally, I think the Royals will be very suspicous if Quentyn rebuffs the gold or the girl. I think Quentyn is going to need to tread carefully.

I think Quenlyn my be in deeper than he expected by the last panel.
When the gal walks up to him his eyes have gotten as big as saucers.
Even his eyebrows are standing at attention under his bandana....

I'm guessing he'll be okay on the gold, actually. It's just money; he has more sense than to jump up and confront them about it, and since they already know he's some degree of stranger, I doubt it will arouse suspicion if he's a little surprised or amazed by it. The leader might even be flattered.
The girl, now, that's another question. I'm not sure rebuffing her would be the only way to get in trouble, for one thing -- that last panel put me in mind of a few songs about guys who get in trouble by messing around with women who are Involved with the local equivalent of the gang leader -- no matter who started the flirting. Without knowing either the dynamics between the sexes in that gang or that woman's specific status....

And that might be the safest way to play it - back off, polite but using the 'not going to steal someone's woman' bit. I know Ralph has told us a bit about the Raconnan mores, but I don't have a feel for the dynamics the way I would for a human group.

Considering how well we know Quentyn handles alcohol, I'd like to see how things turn out once the beer arrives...

Well, that was really just the first time. He handle better this time around....Don't know, haven't a clue and probably not. But maybe? How well can Wuentyn handle himself "undercover?"

probably with the same kind of success that we've seen since wildcard was stolen.

It's not going to be too easy for Quentyn to get away from the girl.
In case you didn't notice in the last panel, she already has her paws on him...

Whatever Quentyn may be wondering about the gold, I suspect he would be willing to dismiss it as an unsolved mystery if he could just get his sword back (along with some of his other stolen possessions). But somehow I don't think Ralph is going to let this story arc conclude without the mystery being revealed.
As for the girl, well, in some human gangs, females are considered little more than property, and in that scenario, any affections a maiden gave out would either be at her master's behest, or at her peril (and the target of said affections). I don't think that's what's happening here. If the females in the Rac Conan Gangs have something close to equality witht he males, then it's probably safe to assume this one is acting on her own initiative, or at least because she considers it her responsibility and not because she was told to. For all we know, it may turn out that just a little more forward about casual contact, and not necessarily about more intimate contact.

I don't think the gold question is just going to be left out to dry. When Ralph puts something in our minds to wonder about, he usualy follows through. Quentyn, you're going to be around royals a little longer than anticipated.
Ack! kept getting errors

Ralph has already given us a pretty good clue here if you remember.

You can bet that the Royals are part of the little ploy with the gangs and I am sure that is where the gold coins are coming from.
