How about this

Post by Shyal_malkes »

I get home from school friday at around 3:00 to find that the power works but the phones are down. my family says the phone company is working on it but that means no phone (in case of emergencies (and no one has a cell phone)) and no internet either. all saturday it is the same story until I get home at around 11:59 pm, ok so it was more like 12:05 AM sunday but you get the picture and FINALLY the phones are working again.

one of the main reasons why the new comic in UTLT hit me so hard, I just get back on like and look who gets his own cameo!

oh well, that's it I suppose. :D
I still say the doctor did it....

Nothing is worse then internet outages. There is nothing you can do to make them
repair it faster and if you use the net a lot you start to feel lost and out of
touch without it. Power is worse because you lose everything in the house
and laptop batteries only last a couple of hours. Then it hits you!

You are cut off from the world. :o

Withdrawal symptoms start. You crawl up into the fetal position and start to
wonder "Why me?"

Then the power comes back on and life starts over again.

Thats actually the interesting thing ... whenever we get a blackout we do the rounds of our street (well not so much me as one of my neighbours, but i tag along too sometimes XD) to check on all the old folks and to see if anyone has rung the energy board

its times like that when you really feel cut off, even though phones still work its like "civilisation" is almost a world away from your little community :D

its fun too i guess, using only word of mouth and torches to contact the people of our little village :P

you probably wouldn't find much of that around where I live, my driveway is a half a mile long and so is my next door neighbor's, the funny thing is our houses are only a quarter mile down the street from each other, it is faster to go cross country the 1/4 mile to his house directly then to go to the street and walk the 1/4 mile.

you nearly made me laugh there BT. I almost forgot that torch also meant the same as a flashlight and not just a burning stick.

I was getting images of a couple towns folks running around when the power's out with *ahem* burning torches and maybe even a pitch fork or two. :D

english is wierd.. :P

And is there something wrong with that?
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

no no, not necessarily 'wrong' per say. just that it wouldn't be as aproporate to have burning torches and pitchforks for a powerouttage then it would be for say a werewolf or ogre or something on the loose.

that'when you really need a good mob to get totally trashed trying to kill something they really can't comprehend
