Looks like Q has meet the OF, this looks to be good. Also, looks like that is a street walker in the first panel. Where is ole Jack when you need him? He knew what to do with them.

I D20 terms, he just rolled a 1 with negative modifiers on a DC 30 skill check.

But, quite frankly, he's been through worse.

But who are they then? There are three established gangs, none of whom wear red. Vipers wear green and yellow, Trolls wear black, and Royals wear purple.

Could this be a unknown or new gang, or just one guy who doesn't stick to the color rules?

personally i think it might very well be the royals, they just either aren't wearing their colors at the moment or they are hiding them.

He's got one chance, actually. If these -are- Royals, they're going to try to psych him out. If he takes the hazing, and plays like he wants to join up, they'll give him a chance to prove himself, and the fact that the cop hates his guts already will only help. If he gets in and they show him the sword, they're dead meat at that point. Dunno what Wildcard will do, but they -won't- like it. They definitely won't be expecting it to charge as quickly as it will, either... heck, even through mage-silk it should charge slowly, since the fractal code acts like a huge antenna and will suck up anything that gets through. It might already be juiced up and waiting for its master.

Showing us just enough of the new arrival to fuel speculation that he might not be a royal, but hiding enough in shadow or behind the counter to leave room to hide the colours.

As soon as the Quentyn gets his hand on a decent weapon (or suitable substitute), he'll become the most dangerous guy in the room. He's a well-trained fighter, and he's desperate and maybe even slightly crazy. Mind you, I'm not downplaying how dangerous the gangsters are, it's just. . .

So why not a rival gang member who could use Quentyn to help hurt of take down the Royals? Either attacking them directly, or by setting Quentyn up for something that would be blamed on the Royals.

Wild card is still compleatly draind, and the link is practicaly none existant. That is, unless the safe is lux proffed? In wich case WC might be sucking power off the other artefacts in the safe via the laws of ozmosis. So techicaly it could get about half its charge back that way. But if so, why hasn't it gone nuts alrady? we've seen what it dose if he's introuble, lifting a ton worth of metal and stone and dragging it half way acrros the city effortlessly. Surely if it realised the conection was so week it'd be going compleatly ape-shit by now trying to escape? No, personaly I think the mage proof cloth is doing its job, albeit a little too well.

I do hexidecimal in my head. I'm one of the guys who writes cheat sheets.
