The Rac-Conan daimh are definitely in a bad position. They are a small nation surrounded on all sides by potentially hostile neighbors, I would even go so far as to say historically hostile neighbors. Their greatest advantage is their technical edge with Lux-technology. That creates the mistwall and enhances (maintains?) the Dire swamp. The impression that I get is that most of their land is relatively flat with gently rolling hills, not that much defensible terrain.
If they are ever going to be reincorporated into the world, it would seem that the world would have to be made to realize the concept of lux-technology, not magic (At least that might get some religious order(s) off their back) Ignorance is the root of many acts of fear prejudice and hatred. How do you educate someone from behind a wall? Going outside seems to be near suicidal as the adversarie's solution to the problem revolves around vivisection..
Isolation will only work for so long (just ask the Japanese and Chinese). The local lack of metallic resources only exacerbates that situation. Trade is a start (as long as greed on either end doesn't ruin it) Expanding the mistwall is a possibility, but the rac-conans better be prepared to back up their new claims militarily. (Eventually someone's going to try to reclaim the "wasteland") Worse once the swamp was discerned to be artificial...
I'm curious to see how RH works this out. The UberCD describes a rich and wide world with many other races and creatures we haven't even seen yet. Maybe Quentyn will be the first(?) questor to go beyond the mistwall. We shall see...

Of course moderation is the key, but at the same time you don't buy the cheapest thing. My computer is dying (I am a computer geek and I can hardly keep it running), so I just bought a computer with one on the new X2 prosessers and more power than I think I will need for a long time. Grand total, $1700+. I am putting it together myself to cut down on coust, otherwise it would be twice as much. A little overboard, mabey, but I don't have to spend money for a new one for at least 3 years even with the power curve. If I was moderate, I would actually end up spending more.SolidusRaccoon wrote:All in moderation.Aurrin wrote:But beware, Solidus.SolidusRaccoon wrote:I like the OT's, profit overcomes all.

On topic, I agree the expantion would just be a slower version of what Hitler was trying to do. If I were a Racconioan, I wouldn't fear humans. Just give me a torch and let me do the quick burn spell

... dude, your talking about a species that could easily pass as an unnatual creation to humans. veiws and science have had over 100 years to change since the Rac'conans had any real contact with humans, and as we see from modern times, a lot can change in a hundred years. For all the Rac'conans know the humans could have developed into a industrial civilisation by now.fusion wrote: On topic, I agree the expantion would just be a slower version of what Hitler was trying to do. The only reason the rac'conans sucseeded in pushing the human forces back was their knolage of lux and the fact that the humans were very overconfident, not haveing any idea what kind of enermy they were facing.
In the past it has only taken one person to know what they were up against before they could find a way to defeat the Rac'conans hands down. If man kind were to become awear of their existance as a whole they could be whiped out like that *clicks fingers*

Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.
Not too shabby at all....sweeeet!The JAM wrote:[...unWARP!!!]
Good evening.
Just dished out US $800 for a new CPU. A friend from church got me an AWESOME system: Pentium IV 2.8 GHZ, 1 GB RAM, 1 MB cache, 2 hard disks, DVD-RW, and we're looking for a good video capture/accelerator card.

No friggin' duh. It's not enough that the little swamp rats have to encroach on their territory, or that they are more prosperous than the Great People, now they wanna push 'em outwards!
It wouldn't be just the humans up in arms about "stolen land", it'd be the Gragum too. Nevermind the fact that they're pushing the outside boundary as well as the inside, they're taking swampland from the Gragum!
That means war. No way in hell is Deep Green gonna take expansionism in stride.
Of course, there's also the fact that we're talking about moving the swamp. As RH put it to me, "That's one wide dotted line to be moving." It's gonna take time, lux, and a lot of resources. All of which is being expended with nothing more than the hope that maybe they'll find an iron mine within half a mile beyond their borders.
Personally, I find that Expansionism is nothing more than a way to "appease the masses" and look like they're doing something to solve the problem. They're not. If anything, they are making it worse by stalling for time.
Plus, I don't care to being refered to as an animal.
Let's see the little fuzzy butts keep up with me on the subject of rNA Transcriptase and its medical uses...

I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.
