World o' pain :D
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

And it's so much fun when you're not on the receiving end... :D

Well i guess wildcard wont be able to help until it gets unwrapped. Looks like quentyn is having a little bit of a traction problem with the journeyboots too :-?

Go quentyn!! ... get that theif! :D

Another note ... theres such a thing as mageproof silk?! so if a bad guy has a cloak of that stuff would he be invincible to lux attacks? or at least able to deflect them?

Well, we've pretty much concluded that whoever that was that took Wildcard, he/she's either trying to lead quentyn somewhere (probably by someone fishy, considering the approach), or he/she's an amateur thief.

With that, I'd like to add my theory to the pot. I think it's Nessie's brother (Colin was it?). The size and clothing certainly seems to back this up. Mostly it was the hat, it's both ragged and patched in a place. What I can't figure out is why he would try to steal it from Quentyn. I mean, he saved his sister from the Gragum.

Heh....Ralph knew what I had been pondering for some time:

Mobility wins over speed, every time. It's how gazelle's escape from cheetahs despite their slower speed. Sudden turns throws the cheetah off.

Now, as long as Quentyn controls the speed of the boots, he should be able to keep up, and thus know where the sword is, even if he cannot reach it.

Why do I sense someone (or maybe 2) could be waiting on either side of this ally for Quentyn to come out of it in pursuit of said sword napper?

Okay, think about this for a moment...

You're talking about blocking lightning bolts and fireballs... with a piece of silk.

If you don't mind me, I'll be on the other side of this rock while you test your little theory. =P Y'know, just in case it only prevents recharging of certain artifacts.
I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.

Yep. The faster you're going, the harder it is to turn. And Quentyn can't decelerate any quicker than he can accelerate, either. Those boots have to be pushing the coefficient of friction right to the ragged edge. I'd estimate that he's got the same acceleration as a sports car. Zero to 60 in three seconds, but he covers a distance of 135 feet in the process. It'd take him the same distance to stop once he realizes he has to, and at full speed his turn radius will be something like fifty feet. The boots are fast, but about as maneuverable as a cow on ice.

Well i guess they might be a bit hard to dry-clean :P I was just wondering if they could make a lux version of a bulletproof vest, or at least some kind of ablative material with it (it doesnt have to be ENTIRELY silk)
You're right though, its a bit hard to beleive ... but stranger things have happened.

I think ill use a dummy for the actual tests though :)

Welcome euro_salamander! I'm surprized the rest didn't notice.

Anyway, the theif will at some point draw the sword to look at what he got. Then it can use lux and remove a certian racoonian from the gene pool.

Nessie's brothers' name is "Jacobin", "Colin" is the son of Lord and Lady Millfolk that Quentyn just saved from the rat wights.

And you're right....it makes NO sense that Jacobin would try and steal Wildcard after Quentyn saved his sister with it. Granted, he WAS taken by the "bonny braw magyk sward" when he first saw it, but he wasn't with the guardsmen or Quentyn when the Gragum got sliced & diced, so he can't really know what it's capable of.

I don't think it's Jacobin.....some street urchin that's either (A) working alone and is a very inexperienced thief, or (B) bait.

BTW.......*extends paw*....welcome to the asylum.....it's only crazy here for now......give it time though, it's all downhill from here on out! :o

Bit of a strech...
