I can think of at least one female who would protest that...

She will never harm you--but you will never know what she will do when you trigger her. For that reason you should regard her power as a weapon of last resort. And because of the bond, you, and only you, can use her safely. Till either the heart rune is broken and a new bond is made...or till the day you die.
I don't see it.

What female would mind? ....it seems like the sword has a more symbotic nature with Quentyn. Except the sword is not dependent on Quentyn. So take what you will then....

I take an......IGLOO!!!!

Nessie. Nessie would have problems with Quentyn being married to anyone/anything other than her.

I don't think that'll be much of a factor. She'll mature eventually, and I believe, get over a childhood crush.

What's the bet it would at least cause some rather annoying heckling from rahan and his buddies.

Don't forget that another girl likes him to: The artificer apprentice for example (can't remember her name)

I don't think that Quentyn will put up with more bullying from Rathan, he's bound to jump at him with a flying head-butt the next time he says anything nasty to him. Quentyn should be so "experienced" now that he shouldn't be afraid of Rathan anymore, that's what I hope anyway.

Kestral is Quentyn's artificer friend.

Rahan is the name of the bully.

If someone doesn't keep your facts straight, this thread will be all tangled up in no time... =P

Like facts ever stopped a thread from getting tangled. . .

it is inevitable, the thread will get tangled, just like every other thread on this forum.

then again, i get "attatched" equipment/personal items all the time, and while I am sure that they don't have NEARLY the depth of attatchment that quentyn has with his sword, I think that marriage is on a different level of attatchment entirely.

I just had a horrible thought: What if the sword tries to kill anyone who gets even remotely intimate with Quentyn?

"I wuv you."

*hack*

Is "remotely intimate" an oxymoron? I think it is. . .

Somehow I don't think this would be a problem we'd have to deal with.

1, Quentyn is still just a kid. He probably isn't going to be getting intimate with ANYBODY, from what I can tell.

2, the sword will only act on its own if he's in severe emotional distress. I wouldn't call intimacy "distress" unless she was really ugly and I was REALLY drunk.

That brings up an interesting thought. You know Quentyn will get married at some point, no matter how distant. I can predict that much, what I can't predict is to whom. Both Nessie and Kestrel seem like opposites compared to him.

I didn't quite mean that intimate. . .

So, what happens if the sword reacts to Rahan bullying Quentyn?

You give Wildcard too much credit for what it can do. It can go to Quentyn when he is in distress, but there is nothing in any of the stories that it does anything else until/unless Quentyn is actually using the sword, or is at least intending to use it. Quentyn has control of the "on-off" part of it, just no real control over what specific effect it will produce when he uses it. Wildcard wouldn't attack someone on it's own.

Actually i think that Irons said that Wildcard had the ability to use its (weapons grade) spells if it found itself hindered when trying to fly to quentyn.
