You do know you're being tailed by brownies, don't you?
Quentyn is a much nicer person than I am. My response would have been along the lines of "What brownies?" and refusing to notice they exist.

As for the castle, I agree while it sounds cute, in the long run it's probably a nightmare to heat and there's a lot of wasted rock there. Better to tear the thing down and build an organized set of buildings. A lot of students and faculty there probably waste a lot of time trying to get around.

Actually, other than the outer rooms, it will be more of a problem to cool.

Heating / cooling?

Well... if the Unseen University is any kind of model, heating and cooling wouldn't be a problem with so many wizards running around, now would it?

Lets see now, collage and students hmmm heh there students they don't need no stinking heat.

Do you know that a lot of collages and schools do destroy and rebuild old buildings to be more ecomical(what the the hell the spelling is) but you know what happens? they destory the life and the history of the buildings they knock down.

It says that each generation of students adds to the place the building stands as a momument to all of thouse who has studdied and lived there tearing it down and rebuilding it just because it would be better to heat or work in you would lose something priceless and would never compare to what you would gain by doing it. Btw this applys to all old buildings real and imaginary

Anyhow back to the comic, Anyone notice that the room he is going to is the main deep scanning room. I think that this is sort of like a giant room sized scanner and will show just how far the bond goes i bet it something that they can't undo but will help control the sword or at lest show to contol it.

Anyhow what ever the outcome i just want more tales of the quester to read.

I'd think that things would be terribly convoluted in a building like that, if things were simply added on after the ages. Of course, that just makes it all the more fun to get lost in. Heh, imagine the brownies taking up residence in the more forgotten halls, or even escaped experiments wandering the parapets... whole new cultures living in the back rooms of the lower levels. :o

Come to that, I have whole new cultures growing in the back and lower levels of my fridge. :o
As for the college, not every society makes a fetish out of new, shiny and efficient. It isn't even necessarily about tradition. A college like this one is like an organic life form. Tearing the main body down would kill the essential spirit.

On a totally unrelated note, but relating to an earlier note. Apparently, for generations officers (especially junior ones) who have been assigned to the pentagon have bemoaned its layout.
Too inneficient they said. Too much time wasted getting from point a to point b.
MUCH better to shift our nations military headquarters to a nice, modern skyscraper.
Somehow, I don't think there's been as much belly-aching since 9-1-1. :x The pentagon may not have been built as a fortress, but by God it took a pounding like one.
A lot of garritroopers learned how nice it is to have solid walls around you when the sh*t hits the fan.

No joke. I heard that even though the downside was that the Pentagon was hard to move around in after the attack, the design was so that it really was a minimum amount of damage.

Thank God for those brave souls who took down the third plane.

Ahem. . .

I imagine that the college is built much like a termite mound. A termite mound is built over several years. Nevertheless, it is one of the most efficiently air conditioned stuctures in nature. My guess is that there is probably a constant light breeze through much of the castle. For goodness' sake, it's basically a building full of engineers! If the students want a breeze, they'll get one going in couple of hours, if not sooner. (Read this comic, panel #5.)

Not engineers. The engineers would be the artifactors over in the Artifactor's college.

The wizards would be more along the lines of high end computer programmers and pure sciences.

Thank you for clearing that up. I figured that the artificers were closer to engineer; but, I couldn't pin down what to call the wizards. "Theorist" doesn't quite cover the "applied science" part of what they do. I probably should have used the word "scientist". For some reason, it didn't occur to me at the time.

Crazy science majors. . .

Okay, so you must be waiting for someone to ask...
what the deal with "IGLOO"?

Make sure they really do a number on him.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.
