Hah! Second!
The boy still underestimates himself a little, I think. He's made a big difference in Colin's life, just by getting his mother to dump the pop psychology BS. And he's got a chunk of change for dealing with the lab. Looks like the firm end of a story arc here, with the seeds of the next one already planted. Politics and intrigue, perhaps? And what about that crazy sword?

It's been a good arc, but I still have trouble believing it started on October 30, 2004. Doesn't seem NEARLY that long.
Since there isn't a lot to talk about concerning this particular comic, perhaps we could use this thread to talk about what we hope for in the next arc.
I hope Quentyn finally teams up with someone on a more permanent basis. If the concept drawings we've seen are any indication, both Kestrel and Fennel will join him. I heartily await this.

What about squidge? Can he join in too? PLEASE?!?!?!

I'd love to see that, but I think he'd rather stay with Colin.

Maybe we'll get to hear more about Nessie, or the priest who went into the swamp. I know it seemed like just a little side story, but I'd love to see more about it.

Oh, I expect great things from Linnaeus.

Nessie the Swamp Coon...
..meep.
She fully intends to marry Quentyn.... >.>;;;
I wonder how many other girls will by the end of TOTQ...
Anywho, we've got a couple loose ends still.
1. Nessie.
2. The Sword.
3. The Next Big Plot.
4. The Evil Guy's Students.
Lets take a looksie at these:
Nessie and The Sword are benign, just explanitory. Nessie might explain to Quentyn her plans for him... As for the Sword, I think that Master Irons is close to figuring it out. SOMETHING certainly happened, and if its what I think it is, this world's God had a hand in it, through the white stag (If they're not the same.) ((The time at the tone will be...))
The Next Big Plot. Master Rillcreek says, early on, "If there's anything I've learned about heroes in my years, its that in this troubled world, heroes have little trouble finding someplace they are needed." (
http://npc.keenspace.com/d/20020616.html ). Its little things, things that seem like little things when you look at the big huge picture that should never be looked at. Ever.
At first. There is a larger plot brewing in the background that Quent will be there, at the right time, at the right place, to do what needs to be done. Heroes, true heroes, come around for a reason. At least, in stories.
That leaves number four, which I think would be connected into that which is brewing. But later. Much later.
For now, I think Quent has an appointment with Farmer Snow.

Well he knows that "Purple Pain" went bonkers when he was in trouble, so sorting that out will be tops on the agenda.
Looks like somebody fetched the "plain jane" sword back out of the sewer. He'll probably keep it around as a memento if nothing else, maybe a backup for any other "no lux allowed" situation...

Oh, and we FOR SURE have a good "dead tree edition point" right here...

I just realized...Quentyn doesn't have a scar on his right eye.
...shoot.

'A new lead on an old crime'? Is he referring to the lab and how they have evidence a Bethad-follower is around? Or something else?

All he got was the equivalent of a split eyebrow, and it's right now being covered by his forelock.
If you like facial scars so much, stick with anime'.

Yeah.
And don't forget that it's difficult to spot a scar through fur, anyway.
Particularly if it's such a small one.
As for Linnaeus, the few scenes we saw of him is still almost a year away.
remember, it took him a year to prepare and puts his affairs in order after he met Quentyn.
My guess is that RH is planning far ahead and that that scene was just to set the stage for something that will happen far in the future.

What a great scene.

I can just see Quentyn in a Western movie, riding off into the sunset, with Colin waving goodbye to him. "Come back, Shane!"

As a practical matter, the areas around the more serious wounds should have been shaved to prevent any fur from falling in and preventing healing.
As for the story itself, DragonMasterHawk said it best. There was never a dull moment in the entire arc.
In parting, does anyone else wonder why Quentyn suddenly decided against wearing white? That seemed to be his normal casual wear in much of this arc.

Perfect image.
Good for Quentyn - he saved the town but still remembers Colin and worries about him. I suspect Colin will be in his prayers for a long time and I look forward to a story arc in a few years where we meet Colin again and see what a difference Quentyn made.
Too many stories just fade but Ralph is planting seeds - even if they don't grow into written stories they can grow in our imaginations.

[...unWARP!!!]
Good evening.
And thus ends the Questor's second mission. Perhaps not with pomp and fanfare, but with the knowledge that he was able to help those who needed him. The brownies should return shortly, now that the wights are gone, and the granaries are now safe from vermin.
What's next? Maybe a little vacation, maybe a little romance, who knows. Thank you, Ralph, for an excellent arc, and an excellent finish to this arc.

And don't forget:
5. His (possible) relationship with Kestrel (and dare I add the barmaid too?)
BTW - Has Quentyn retrieved his loaner sword, or does he have a new loaner? (I assume that he didn't put a handle on the curtain rod

)
