Hear hear... Even more badly here in Quebec... We apparantly only have two flavors of government now: Liberals and Seperatists.

...And the only difference between the two is how much they love the Federal Government.

Heh, Maybe we should form our own country. With me as the supreme and most honorable leader.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

Can't imagine wanting the job, personally. But if you need an assistant or an advisor once you make it, let me know. 8)

Point taken, I believe that in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy the actual ruler of the galaxy was the one person that really didn't want the job. Therefore he wasn't motivated by power or politics! :D

I believe that's similar to how the Athenians originally designed their ruling body: choosing most office-holders by lot, at random from among the eligible citizens. And considering the large number of offices to fill, this meant that most citizens couldn't avoid having to fill a position at least once in their life.

...Citizens selected to hold office would see it much as we today look at Jury Duty: an imposed civil responsibility which takes time out of one's business, but which is still necessary to perform, especially if avoiding it meant being seen as a bad citizen.

Send him to the US to smack all the lawers who work with people who want to sue others. They are out of control!

Bah! You think Canada needs reforming? Look at America! Talk about needing reforming.
I mean, what's up with the whole east coast line? All those squiggles! It should be straight! Heck, at least the west coast tries to form a smooth arc.
And the 'great plains' my tail! Bumps all over the place! :x

On a more serious note, judgeing from the good doctors response Quentyns actions, while obviously unwelcome, were not totally outrageous. He isn't screaming for the guard. He isn't screaming for his lawyer. He just wants this particular patient out of his fur.
So, either:
a) the doctor gets this a lot (not improbable)
b) the doctor is unusually phlegmatic (big word of the day!)
c) Quentyns actions, while unusual, are not socially totally unacceptable. Sort of along the lines of being publically cussed out.

Heh, that could be his new quest. medical reform. Go and smack all the quacks silly.
That's a thought...maybe I should bring a curtain rod with me for when the doctors keep telling me how little they know about mitochondrial diseases, but that they would like to try procedures that have a 5% chance of killing me just to take a look at what is going on in the brain in closer detail.

I vote Solidus in as World Supreme Head Honco.

I claim the post as "Grand Vizier", so you had a sinister evil person for the post.

That's above Prime Minister, what have you :D

Okay, that's it: I want to be the person who runs away and hides!

Hangin out

Post by Squirrelly61104 »

Stay at the Green Bough for a good long time
Wait. Isn't Quentyn supposed to be his villages questor?
Granted, the big city offers him more opportunities for business, but still!
On the other hand, he still needs to get his sword sorted out. Not to mention...

What? I said I wasn't going to mention it! :x
Oh, alright. The archives in the city probably have a better picture of what Questors have done in the past. Especially in regard to their relationship with the powers that be.
The powers that be usually get their power from a clearly defined and organized social system (read 'beauracracy'). Loose cannons or individuals who don't fit into nice little pigeon holes make even the best of them... nervous.

On the other hand, now Quentyn can show his parents the sights in style! :D

I think he has already outgrown his village - from the look on his face I think he is developing a taste for adventure. One that will benefit us as well. :D

He's still got to sort out that sword.... which is why he still has to stay in the city.
