[...unWARP!!!]

Good evening.

Not much to add here except

EXCELLENT STRIP, RALPH!!!!!!!!!!

So our hero fainted for a bit, nothing wrong with that. But he DID need that reassuring Word.

How advanced are the lux-healing mechanics here? Can they restore damaged tissue without leaving scars?

Very cool. Also cool to see the white stag return, at least in spirit. Anyone reminded of an old UTLT strip?

You mean when Ben and the posse were falling through the blue?

That strip is my favorite from UTLT/GH.

I'd do it... except....

This month I've already paid almost 10.000NOK in bills, and is expecting another bill of about 6500NOK
($1500 and $1000 respectively)

Well, at least I managed to pay for the 'Quentyn in Space' picture before that.

*Sigh*

Maybe I should set up a tip jar myself...

Did Quentin's forehead fur just get stag-licked even whiter?

That was pretty predictible...

Wow...wow...this comic is so wonderful...

And was I the only one to think about Gollum right away when I read Squidge's diaglogue this time. "Stupid, fat hobbit...I mean...racconan, yes, racconan."

You know, the two most "spiritually aware" series that I've seen on the web are also the two best: TOTQ and "Jack", which is...NOT the same lighthearted tone, although it has it's moments.

Jack is at:

http://www.pholph.com

It's broken up into short stories, with some characters returning (esp. Jack, a condemned "grim reaper" figure who has *seriously* sinned when alive but is recovering) and some not...a great intro is the 52 panels in this storyline, which stand well on their own:

http://www.pholph.com/index.php?Strip=473

WARNING: this is some very disturbing stuff in places. It starts with a suicide and goes to hell from there, literally...but you won't believe the ending and the fight scene between demon and angel where it's demon trying to do right is just...whoa.

Hmmm. Wonder how much of a fan base cross over there is here.
Both have strong spiritual foundations. Both have Christian roots. Yet the two are radically differant.
I think it helps that both artists are very good storytellers, who have improved with experience.

Of course, fan base crossover is the only likely crossover.
I could no more imagine a Jack/Questor cross over than I could imagine a Nip and Tuck/Kit and Kay Boodle cross over.

"a Nip and Tuck/Kit and Kay Boodle cross over"

:o

Yeah, THAT would be good for a laugh. Briefly. Mainly a lotta screaming and running. And passing out.

Gene Catlow managed a Jack crossover quite well. You basically let Jack handle the "underworld afterlife department". It would NOT actually be impossible with TOTQ and we know from UTLT that Ralph can think in terms of long drawn-out crossovers (the one with Schlock was hysterical).

Then again, I was half expecting a tentacle monster from http://www.ghastlycomic.com/ in the lab . <MAJOR nastiness warning including something so horribly wrong in the "store" area that I'm shocked Cafepress allowed!>

But in all seriousness, Ralph should NOT do crossovers with TOTQ unless as a side-gag separate from the main series. The main series is WAY too valuable in final book form to mess around with like that.

I would like to venture that "Jack" has "christian roots" in the same way a hawaiian tofu pizza has Italian origins.
Theologically it's a mishmash of judeo-christian pop-culture, pseudo-catholicism, eastern mysticism/reincarnation myths, and self-serving modernistic self-righteousness.

It's morals are skewed so far from bible standards that it only resembles christian eschatology by sheer accident--- homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, and perversity get a heavenly seal of approval in "Jack's" metaverse... even the angels are portrayed as bisexual hosebeasts....

Meanwhile, committing suicide, preaching against the sin of homosexuality (ain't THAT interesting), "profiteering" off of war (you know, by, like, providing bullets and body armor for your country's soldiers), or *simply hating someone who just murdered you* gets you sent to hell.

Demons walk glibly in and out of hell, the worst, most evil and hateful sinners on earth become god-kings in Hades, the soul of an innocent unborn child is damned, and a suicidal rape victim is turned over to her rapist to be violated for all eternity.

And this is "christian" and "spiritual?"

I would really kindly thank you if no further attempts to compare "tales of the Questor" to "Jack" were made.

I have to agree. "Jack" has nothing resembling true Christianity left in it. It's more a play off of Dante's Inferno, and is so painfully opposite from any of Ralph's strips that the idea of a crossover is revolting.

As for Kit n Kay with Nip and Tuck..... >_< Okay, you just took Solidus' medal for most disturbing post material. Please, never again speak of that, even in jest.

Sorry Ralph, didn't mean to insult. His take is definately more..."libertarian" than yours...bordering on "libertine" sometimes, which ain't the same thing...

Talk about going from one extreme to another in back-to-back strips. A fantastic transition only Ralph could have pulled off.

This is my first post! (all excited)

I doubt that RH will remember me, but I wrote to him (maybe last year) about how much his comics inspire me. (Back then it was still Under the Lemon Tree.) RH was kind wnough to write me back (Sigh). Still have the email. Way long story short, I am really awed by TOTQ, RH. Really good stuff. GOD bless, man!

p.s.:Yeah dont burn yourself out,RH. We can be patient. (I hope.)

Odd... I notice a lack of a key quote in this thread. Lets fix that. *Ahem*

"I'm not dead yet!"

And as a bonus, that classic subway tag from before my time...

"Frodo Lives!"

Liquid, Vamp, and Volgin. Now these are guys who just can't stay dead.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

I had a similar dream once (sort of) several years ago. I had died and was on a bus to go to heaven (probably influence by C.S. Lewis "Great Divorce") and Jesus got on a kicked me off (nicely) saying it wasn't my time, that there were things left for me to do.

Next thing I know I am witnessing to someone in a battlefield with some friends. Then I woke up. Still trying to figure that one out ...

You faced a bloody horde, slew their king, and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat! Nay, you ripped it out of defeat's very own gullet! Even if he had succumbed from his wounds, his death would not have been a tragedy, but a noble, heroic sacrifice.

...Sorry, I guess I've been reading my "GURPS Vikings" book once too often..
Bravery does not necessarily negate tactical/stratigic errors. Quentin felt that he had made a stratigic error. The fact that he had 'died bravely' (as he thought that he had) would merely have meant that he was the only one who would suffer for his 'foolishness'. The actual stratigic truths may be debated. For instance even if the rat king had died of starvation one week later, but the rats had reached the Luxfont... the effect would have been the equivalent of a neutron bomb (kills the people, leaves the property, might not actually exist (can't remember, might have just been a Cold War rumor), but it serves as a good example). Sanctuary would have been decimated, in the original sense of the word, at the VERY least. And the MistWall would have gone down for a while almost certainly... which would have had long reaching stratigic consequences quite possibly.
