I was looking at http://npc.keenspace.com/d/20050126.html, fourth panel. I speculated that whoever was standing next to Irons when they found Quentyn was the same person that was standing behind Irons when the sword started dragging the stand and that this person was Kestrel. Now, I'm not really certain of any of that.

Looks like a gray cat... his ears aren't prominent enough, and neither is his snout, while cats have more lump-like faces.
