I was imagining two Rac Conans dressed in cowboy garb, staring each other in the eyes, about to have a mages' duel at high-noon in the dusty, tumbleweed-filled streets of Ridgedale City.

Maybe and maybe not. We've already established that Lux operates under the generalized principles of a fundamental physical force. It wouldn't be that hard to imagine it playing a sci-fi role. I mean, how many sci-fi's have you seen already that invent types of energy as needed? (I think the better question is how many have you seen that DIDN'T?)
