The feces have impacted the rotating air particle motion device.
Dunno where these buggers came from, but somebody needs to find a way to kill 'em... now.

Yikes!
Man that doesn't look good, he really should have that looked at. Nasty wound that, I don't think Quentyn ever had a wound like that before.
Very gripping strip, RH!

He hit it correctly. They are a black hole. I'm guessing (I do that alot on this forum dont' I? Its fun! RH is good with using tension in this comic) thats not an army your seeing there, but one whole being. It something that just takes, its a black hole, taking people, taking lux, it doesn't care. It just wants and wants. Its using rats because thats all it can reach downthere in the sewers.
Then again it could be totally different. =^_^= which is the fun of this comic, its not easy to predict.

In the immortal words of Hellboy......"skip to the bottom line, how do I kill it"?
If they've come up from the sewer........Quentyn's REALLY in some deep doo-doo.

Quentyn's now been physically attacked and injured. His senses are in overload......what is the bond with his lux-sword doing right now? How "loudly" is it calling for it, and how is the sword responding?
There may be some serious chaos at the Artifactors Guild hall coming very soon.

The lux-sword came to him once before. I strongly suspect it will again. It may or may not create havoc on the way out, depending on -how- it moves.
The elf-shot bow did work, though, you noticed? The darts did kill the creatures when they hit. But there were too many of them, and once the darts were finished moving, their material core could be eaten by the whatever-they-ares.
I think his lux-sword will work on them just fine. They might be able to consume lux, but they're still susceptible to lux weapons. Rather like the difference between eating a steak and dealing with an annoyed bull.

It'll take the most direct rout to its master and considering its so highly secure in that valt if it dose escape it'll have no problem going strait through the walls

Wow, this is getting really heavy. Time to call out the big guns.

Ok, so the rats are Lux-eating. With all that energy around, it would make sense that either something would exist that would live directly on it, or that some weapon's/toxicwaste-disposal researcher would make something that would consume it... BTW is there even such a thing as 'toxic-lux-waste'?

Well, it's kind of implied that the swamp where Quentyn had his first adventure was used to dump failed experiments.
Not quite on the level of an industrial toxic waste dump, tho.
"skip to the bottom line, how do I kill it"?
Or, to dig a bit further back, an alternative classic movie strategy:
"And now for my impersonation of Jesse Owens!"

Toxic waste Lux? From the fireballs in their eyes, I wonder if they're Scottish rats?

In the sicuation I would get...on...the...bed...now. But that's just me.

It's most likely the 'safe zone'...

Now, where's everyone's favorite wandering priest when we need him, hmm?
Personally, I'm fairly sure we're dealing with a fairly standard breed of undead known as Shadows - nasty buggers that are only half corporeal. Granted, it seems that they have an ability or two that are above the norm (the ability to eat lux, primarily), but nothing too tough.
Individually, at least. With this many of them, Quentyn's definitely going to need his luxblade PDQ.
Magius out.

That's a good point. Colin's been "visited" several times by these things and I don't believe he's ever been physically harmed, other than exhaustion from lack of sleep. And in his own words: "They never come up on the bed." Okay...why not? What makes the bed a "safe zone" if indeed it actually is?

THAT's precisely the "chaos" I was referring to. I think his luxblade is more than capable of acting just like a loyal horse kicking and smashing his way out of a stall to go to the rescue of his master.
Given it's unusually powerful effects, I wonder if Irons' "usual" methods of securing and neutralizing luxweapons will be all that effective?

Quentyn's definitely going to need his luxblade
Actually, at this time, I think what Quentyn really needs is Aflack.
As for the bed, a point I just remembered: Colins bed is a human style bed. Most Rac-conan beds are apparently floor nests, but Colins is raised above the floor. This was an important enough point for RH to emphasize it earlier.
Also, these things only come out at night, and seem to be coming from the sewers. Could the lightning from the storm disorient or harm them? Perhaps the sudden flooding of their layer inconvenience them?
Bah! 'Tis but a flesh wound!

Could there actually be an anti-lux?
