Considering Quentin's fear I'd say it was a horking big smucker!

Raspberry Smucker to be precise.

He does recognize the beastie though by his reaction.

[...unWARP!!!]

Good evening.

Yup, he was startled, but incredibly angry (check out his eyes on the December 30 strip. Now THAT's startling and anger combined if I ever saw it!)

Also, he said "I mighta known" so he obviously knows what it is, so we're going to get some explanations on the next strips.

You still don't understand! I have only myself to blame, I suppose.
I believed in you, thought you have potential...but apparently I was wrong!
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

Bogeyman? Ok, I think I get it now.. It must be some sort of telepathic parasite that feeds on fear, or uses fear as a defense mechanism...

The lux wards wouldn't stop it since there is no 'magic' involved, so the booger-man could roam around the house freely. The next question would be if other wee beasties could be useing the same routes to get access?

A matter of numbers?

A better question is whether bogeymen are solitary creatures, or whether they congregate in packs.

Actually a better question is why it never manifested itself when anyone else was kit sitting Colin? Is there something that would prevent adults from seeing it?

Selective invisibility, perhaps?

My guess is that it never showed up (or got out fast) when adults were present. Colin's residual fear was causing him to project the night terrors, and the adults around him obviously assumed that they were the sole cause of his problem. The bogeyman showed up this time because it didn't sense any adults in the room - Quentyn is still stepping into the role of an adult, so we can probably forgive the bogeyman for the mistake. Also, telling his story to Colin probably left Quentyn feeling like a little kid inside, which might also serve to confuse the bogeyman, if it uses some sort of telepathic (or empathic) instinct to spot adults.

Oops - left something out:

The bogeyman almost HAS to have some sort of mindreading ability to be able to duplicate images that lead to the maximum fear in its victim - like changing into a jelly for Quentyn.

Unless it just overheard and understood him...

Possibly, but it looked like it was too busy digging up through the floor at that point to pay close attention to what Quentyn was saying.

Exactly.

Well dang... I can see the Dec. 30 and Jan. 1 comics, but the Dec. 31 strip won't load for me.
Weird.

...what if the thing itself isn't a bogeyman, but a product of it/him/whatever?

Yep, me too. There's about a half-dozen days now scattered among the three strips that simply won't load on either Netscape or IE. What browser do you use?

Good evening.

So this is the Rac Conian version of "The Boogeyman"?

Jellies? I thought the thing bit Quentyn.

Also, why were the lux charges being channeled to the floor?

My guess is that the bogeyman ingests the lux produced by Rac Conan kits suffering from night terrors - it pops up, scares the kit, the kit then suffers from night terrors, and the bogeyman has a good meal.

It happens to me pretty often, too. Gets kinda aggravating, but it seems to clear up after a while (sometimes it takes several days, sometimes a few hours). I have no idea what the problem is - I use IE/AOL.

Hopefully it doesn't carry any diseases. I don't think a case of bogey fever would go over too well around here.
