Quentin's Fear

Can't be swamp jellies can it?
He just thinks those are icky nasty, he isn't really scared of them is he?

Oh...

Wait, I just remembered...

That's right...

Rahan, the iron merchant's son!
Yep, that is a pretty silly fear...
And yet, sooooo much a preferable subject for him to go into than a first hand account of his fight with the false god and his followers (which Colin already would now a good bit about from reading the news scripts), and that means preferable for BOTH of them probably.

Perhaps Quentyn is afraid of the Gibbity-Jibbity creature from Goblin Hollow.

How about Maribeth? Quentyn was pretty ill-at-ease after they met on the luftship.

Nah, that's just embarrassment. It'll be the childhood bully, I'm pretty sure.

:P Trust me. It's the jelly.

Can't believe no one pointed out what Quentyn said...

See, I figured out a couple years ago that true courage is not the absence of fear, but perseverence in the face of it. Quentyn's version is a bit more simpler, but it has the same truth in it. Being brave doesn't mean not being scared so much as doing what has to be done even when you feel like curling up into fetal position.

Either Ralph's readin' my mind, or we think a lot alike... :P

Scary thought, ain't it?

It is a common thought actually.

Practically the definition, at least among people who understand what duty and honor mean.

I didn't think he was -that- bummed out by the jellies, in particular. Might be the whole episode with the Gragums, or it might be Rahan. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Think about it...

You're alone in a swamp full of God-knows-what, been attacked by tentacles (possibly swamp krakens, those lovely things), your boat's ruined, you're covered in muck of questionable origin, you're tired and hungry, and now, just as you find one of the durn search parties... this green goey THING starts oozing up your leg like you're the entre at an all-you-can-eat buffet!

:P Seriously, who wouldn't be traumatized?

*feels something on his foot* O.o;;

ACK!! GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF!!

*shakes leg furiously*

[...unWARP!!!]

Good evening.

Or, Quentyn could ask Colin what he was dreaming and maybe get a clue as to what is wrong...

I don't know what you are refering to here... the original comment refered to bravery NOT being the absence of fear. I dunno,... I confused.

His fear of jelly.

I tend to twist logic into funny animals.

Huh. It's the jellies, with an assist from that snot-nosed brat. Who'da thunk it? (Well, besides RHJ.) Plot twists again!

This reminds me of a similar trick that our highschool science teacher played on us. Just in case you happen to be eating as you read this, I'll spare you most of the details, but I'll tell you this:

(1) Our science teacher has an odd sense of humor.
(2) It involved scrambled eggs.
(3) For about a week after that, just looking at scrambled eggs made me feel nausiated. :o [/list]

Aiee! What preserves us from getting into another punfest?

"Would you like a leg of lamb to go with that green jelly?"

Heh. With some of us, there is no way to stop us from getting into a punfest. We feel sheepish about it afterwards, but there it is. Trying to preserves a pristine pun-free thread isn't really an option; some bent idea will ram itself into a punster's brain and force us to inflict it on all and sundry.

Yikes!

I thought it was Hibbity-Jibbity, and I'd say this is a degree or two beyond that :o
