what are friends for?

Post by Shyal_malkes »

apparetntly Quentyn is planning on doing this thing entirely solo.

which I hope gets totally turned around sooner or later.

that and I think his mom can hear him.

it's sad, cool, and definately good

Ralph's usual standard

keep at it
I still say the doctor did it....

damn that's a twist. i thought the little boogey would tag along on this latest
adventure....
either way It's gotta be tearing the people close to him up especially
when his ma must of heard that...
I hope before he leaves that there is some closure to this between them.
and also i hope he will cheer up and stop looking at the situation like he
ain't never coming back.
it just doesn't seem right to me when people sit there and are like
"were doomed or screwed". never could understand why?
for me it has always been "how can we get this done?"
so i hope quentyn changes his additude to "I will come back to my family"...
maybe i am just rambling but I believe when a person says they ain't
gunna make it, then they won't make it.
but besides that Ralph gots us questioning ourselves and the current situation again and i hope he keeps it up for it makes a story
a great story when you identify with it??

I'm putting odds, right now, on stowaways.

Fen's a good candidate. He seems hungry for fame.

(fights tears) Awww.....ummm....(cough)....man....that is.....that is sad...yet sweet and really brave. I guess that means that Squidge isn't going with Quentyn. Again I say, brave little dude. Poor momma.

Squidge was just paid a huge complement. Not only was this the first time anyone has called him FRIEND but his friend as asked him to watch over the two most important people in his life while he goes on an impossible mission. It would be hard to pay anyone a higher complement. :o :o

I am sure Squidge will do a great job. :) :)

This one part of this one song just always reminds me of Quentyn's attitude.

"If maintaining the peace,
Means fighting the beast,
Then I'm surely prepared to die,
Cause a man's gotta do,
What a man's gotta do,
And I know that God's on my side."

Clawfinger - Live Like a Man

I'm not counting Squidge out yet. Mama saw and heard Quentyn's words so mama might tell Squidge: "We will be fine" "You protect Quentyn so he can come home safe and sound." "I'll pack some extra pies for you."

Sigh. Such, unfortunately, is the lot of a Questor. They essentially give up a home and family so that the rest of the folks can go home to theirs. All you can hope is that you make it to the point where you can retire and pass the torch on to someone else, or else that you find someone along the way who makes the burden lighter.
Boy I'm maudlin. Still, I think it'll take a good long while for him to find them all. Perhaps he can return from time to time to return the ones he's found (so he isn't carrying around a cartload of powerful artifacts by the end of the quest.)
To end on a more positive note, I've read fore-shadowing a time or two that sounds like Quentyn is telling this tale from many years in the future. I choose to interpret this as that he will survive the quest. It'll be a long road but he'll get there eventually IMO. Also, stuff like this is why I ended up reading both ToTQ and Nip& Tuck in as close to a single sitting as I could possibly manage. (O.o took a WHILE.)

*moved from other thread since this was more on-topic here.*
oh, and the commission pic is cool. Actually all the commissions are cool,

Well, Quentyn has a track record. When facing the rat king, he said "Did you ever know that you were going to die? I knew it. I knew that I was going to die."

But then, he triumphs anyway.
