MIIB
I saw Men In Black 2 yesterday, and I thought it was pretty good. Not as excellent as the original, but a good way to kill 90 minutes. If you liked the first one, you'll like this one.
I saw three movies yesterday: MiiB, Hey Arnold, and PPG. PPG was easily the best out of the three, followed by Hey Arnold. I was surprised that the girls were created 5 minutes into the movie. I was expecting more "PPG-less" Townsville. Also, I thought the Professor said he had to kick out Jojo when the girls arrived, but in the movie he never even noticed the monkey. o.O Anyway, I thought it kicked major ass.
I saw Hey Arnold because it's my 2nd favorite Nicktoon behind the simply hilarious Invader Zim. It's an extended episode of the show.
I did not like MiB II. I just felt it was a standard action movie with cool weapons. That final battle was a joke! *SPOILER* In the first movie they have 10 minutes to kill a giant cockroach and get the Galaxy. Said giant cockroach has eaten both K and the Agent's weapons, leaving J to fight him with a tree branch and a rock. That was fun to see. Now, in MiB II, you've got J being tangled up by vines while K stands there shooting things. *SPOILER END* And all the obvious ad placement was just stupid. Since when does MiB have a Burger King and a Sprint Store?

I feel guilty to this day about not liking the PPG movie AT ALL...
It just seemed like a very padded out episode to me. Maybe it's cuz Buttercup didn't beat up Bubbles too much. I LIKE the PPGs too! I wish the movie could've had more silly parts, like that episode where they're playing catch and end up chucking the ball into Mojo's "hideout". Ohwell.
Wanna see MIBII anyway, just cuz I like Will Smith (yay!). If it's not as awful as Wild Wild West, a matinee'd be good.
Was "Hey Arnold!" good? The trailers I saw for it were soooo loooong...!

Hey Arnold was good if you like the series. It's basically a really long episode where Helga admits she loves Arnold to Arnold.thefiretrap wrote:Was "Hey Arnold!" good? The trailers I saw for it were soooo loooong...!

Heh. She said "snogged" not "snuffed".Steve-o wrote:They let you take weapons into movie theatres there?Delirieuse wrote:I snogged a guy in that film simply for something to do.

As for MIIB, I just saw it last night. I liked it and the cartoon in the beginning was good fun. I really liked the trailers I saw... Star Trek: Nemesis, DareDevil, and LOTR: Two Towers.

Jennifer Garner as Elektra! (not so sure about Ben Affleck as DD)

And once again, it is confirmed that I am the only person that thinks Wild Wild West was a great movie. Curse my love of Steampunk.
Anyway, question: what cartoon? When I went to MIIB, they went straight from previews to the movie. Did my local theater monopoly decide to do some editing? As for the movie itself, it was goofy. Same plot, new jokes. I was entertained, though not very impressed.

I'm with Microber. The only before-movie cartoon I saw was Dexter's Lab's "Chicken Scratch" before the Powerpuff Girls movie.

I saw the short in the previews... Though they showed it, then showed another preview. Our local theater monopoly is run by Goodrich.
/RANT ON/
Though their name is only half right... There's nothing Good about them, but they are certainly getting Rich by gouging all of us in Lafalot. I could go to Indianapolis and see movies cheaper... What's more, for the midnight showing of Attack of the Clones, the first one that everyone wanted to go see, they charged 8 freakin dollars! Why? because they could, and because we had no other choice in town if we wanted to see it at 12:01 on opening day. Grr.
If I had a big pile of money to burn, I'd use it to set up another multiplex, just to undercut Goodrich's prices.
Grr.
/RANT OFF/
As for Chicken Scratch, at the beginning of PPG, I didn't care for it, because it wasn't done by the same artists who normally do Dexter's Lab. It looked like it was done by those bigdumb guys who do that lame gross-out type of cartoon, like Cow and Chicken, I M Weasel, and Courage the Cowardly Dog. And similarly to those cartoons, the Dexter short had only one lame joke. I expected more from everybody's favorite pint-sized mad scientist.

Well, it wasn't that long ago that the expensive friday/saturday night movies cost $6.75 here. Not anymore. NOw they're up to $7.50.
What's more, Goodrich got rid of the second-run theater. Used to be a dollar to see a show, then they made it $3, then they closed one theater (a two-screen), and moved the second-runs to the mall theater (four-screen)... then after a year or two, shut THAT down. Now we just have a 10-plex, a 7-plex, and a 9-plex.
You'd think that with all those screens, they'd keep the movies around for more than two weeks, though... but no....

Well, it was hand-drawn and animated by Gendy Tartakovsky, the creator of the series, and who worked on the PPG Movie. Like I said in my LJ review, it reminded me of the original Dexter's Lab shorts in the way it was animated. (And I mean the ORIGINAL originals. i.e. "Big Sister," "Changes," etc.)zodo wrote:As for Chicken Scratch, at the beginning of PPG, I didn't care for it, because it wasn't done by the same artists who normally do Dexter's Lab.
