Just out of curiosity, to whom did these unfortunate items belong? And...why did they have to get mauled in the first place?

The CD-R's were burn errors.
The 1/4" plywood was extra scraps.
The 12-pack of pop is comic exaggeration - he really only mauled a couple empty boxes.
