BIG CALL FOR ALL NAFTA MEMBERS(and Koio too if he wants to)!

Post by Ghislain_WildCat »

I just want to point out that I'm going on vacation where there is no connected computer without any scanners either this week-end and it will last for 2 weeks. And Christine told me she was going to this July 19th for a week(correct me if I'm wrong).

So what I wanna know is what do we do to fill the empty space. Do we draw all the strips in advance? Do we send some random pics? [insert other suggestions here]?

Thanx in advance for your cooperation! ^w^

in spite of the whole `being in japan` thing, i did manage to draw... oh no, not pooki and/or akaruinohi, but rather another thing... oh, i`ll FINISH this one (i hope, hey, no snickering!). it`s an extremely short story, only five pages (3 finished so far)... i was going to run it on my site, but i could do it here, or on both, simultaneously... just a suggestion.

what might work is also just to let bryan take care of the comic jam by himself (thus redefining the term `jam`)... oh, yeah, i could help too...

don`t mind me if i`m not making any sense... i don`t make much sense to myself anymore...

This is actually a great idea. If we need something, we can add it on, or we could add it on at the end. That might be better making our programme a little less broken and more consistent. But I'm cool with anything. Really, Pooki, it is up to your discretion, as you are a full blown member of this club now (well, you should ask AC for the password).

Ohh, I don't know if you'd want me to do that...I can really turn this thing so upside down that you guys will not forgive me for it. (I'll do it if necessary, heh heh). Actually, switching with Koio would be a cool idea if we could somehow pull it off.

What we need now really is for Ghis and AC to present all the days to which they wont be able to submit a comic. I'll also need to know how or when you, Koio, would be able to contribute. We'll try to make a schedule that will fit for us while keeping the MWF schedule.

And Koio, what you could do is use what our characters that we've given so far and play with them, add some extras if you feel are necessary. Get ready to get insane!

Um...

Well.. I'm leaving on this Friday's (the 19th's) afternoon. So, I can draw this strip. ^_^ I SHOULD be back sometime the following monday or tuesday. So, I'll only miss ONE of my strips.

But the next week's, I'll miss my Friday's strip, unless we start drawing quickly and get almost a whole week ahead. (which I WOULD like to try to do)

But, if that's impossible, having JUST Bryan, (with maybe Shu contributing one strip if he feels like it, as a "special guest artist" or something) to fill the space.

So this week, M-Bry W-Ghis F-Chris
Next week, M-Bry W-Shu/Bry/Ghis F-Bry/Chris
Week after, M-Bry W-Ghis (are you back yet?) F-Chris

Then continue normally.

Also, Putting in Shu's comic MTWThF of next week would also be fun, and here's why: "Couches of LOVE will return in a moment, after this commercial break" kind of deal. There's always tons of commercials while watching soaps. And then when we get back, we can make it as if we/the people missed something that happened on set. It would be funny and screw with their heads.
But one question for Shu: Is your 5 page comic story HUMOUROUS?
If it IS, then I pick the "Commercial Break" as our #1 option.

#2: Trying to draw all the strips ahead of time as I've already suggested over ICQ to Ghislain.

#3: Bryan (and Shu) fill in the blanks.

*nodnods*

Shu, to get the password, just email me @hotmail!
animecanuck@hotmail.com and I'll let you in.

But I still don't consider you a full (as in Full-Time) member. I want to "unveil" you on January first, as "The New Guy" to our troupe. And get Ghislain to make a matching animation of you, as he did of us. And you'll JUMP RIGHT IN with your 3-month long comic!
Unless we change the format..

I STILL would LOVE to do another Comi-prov next year.
And I was thinking the other day.. We wouldn't even have to make up a new one, or new characters (well, 2 brand new characters for Shu next summer, and for us, if any of our characters ACTUALLY "died" at the end.)
Brandon could come back on day 1... "I'm so happy I didn't die, Sheila.. I was only put in cryogenic suspension)
It would be like "Couches of LOVE" season 2. And this could be something we'd do every summer. But maybe only 2 months, next year.

Jan Feb
Mar Apr
May Jun

JUL AUG - Comi-Prov

Sept Oct
Nov Dec
.. Or we could make the Comi-prov 4 months, so it's fair.

'cause I just realised the 2 month Comi-prov leaves us with one extra block.
So then:
Jan Feb- Shu
Mar Apr- Undecided
May Jun- Undecided

JUL AUG- Comi-Prov
SEPT OCT- Comi-prov

Nov Dec - Undecided

OR

Jan Feb- Shu
Mar Apr- Undecided

MAY JUN- Comi-Prov
JUL AUG- Comi-Prov

Sept Oct- Undecided
Nov Dec- Undecided

Actually, the second is spaced out nicer kinda, but we'll have a vote. Sound good for the blocks next year?
Actually, if nobody wants it, I could go for the Sept Oct block for next year (if we go by plan 2)

What do you all think?

Post by Pooki »

she`s laughing, but it`s pretty pathetic... okay, she said it was pretty funny, but kinda obscure... maybe it is humorous? maybe not?? who knows... maybe i`ll let you guys decide... i`ll upload it sometime when i get back home... i however, think it`s my best work...

Well, I'm okay with having Shu's five pages comic during the "break". It would be a good way to introduce him into our "club". ^w^

About doing the story's sequel next year.... I dunno.... I thought that "Couches of LOVE" would only be this year's project, then next year, we take somebody else's idea and we all work on it... I hope it doesn't disturb anyone's plan! ^w^;;;

Well having Koio showcase his 5-page thing as a "commercial break" might work. I leave it up to Koio to decide whether that would work as such (since he's written it), and we can then do that break thing. Feel free to send it to us if you want us to take a look at it, but I think we trust your judgment.

As for next year, I don't really care too much about how we order the stuff. In the case of what i have in plan, it might take a real real long while , since the project will be time consuming, such that I can't guarantee that I'll have it ready by next summer. I'll have to give you guys a better estimate.

I suppose that now that Koio's on the page, maybe the best way to schedule ourselves is just to do it by ear, and not really worry about fitting every one into one year. Because, if we all wanted a 3-month spot + a comic prov, it can't possibly fit it in a year, so why restrict the cycle to one year? This might make things a little more flexible for everyone, as long as every person has his or her chance. So what do you say, play by ear? After Ghis's 3 month period (which should cap off 2002), we can decide who's next and for how long. I don't expect to be ready for a long while so those who wish to put something out there early in 2003, by all means cut in front of me.

Oh and here's a suggestion for everyone in this group: try to complete your series before it starts. It makes for much much smoother transitioning and less headache. We can even apply this idea to the comic jam. Let's say, for example, that we want to have another jam in the fall. Well, instead of actually doing it in the fall, we correspond with each other by email over the winter/spring/summer, taking our time and slowly generating a jam. Then in the fall, we'll have garnered a large collection of comics, with which we can display them without worrying about one person missing his or her day due to other complications.

Just an idea; but I really highly suggest everyone work on their own thing as early before their spotlight

Working ahead

Post by AnimeCanuck »

Yes, working ahead is a good idea, so MY problem doesn't happen again.

>_<;; Gomen!

Erm.. and I find 3 months is actually too long for any of my ideas (they get old fast) .. So I'll gladly sacrifice a month to a month and a half so we can have a comi-prov every year.

I really do prefer that we somehow fit everyone into one year, though. And it doesn't matter to me if it's a "cycle" different orders every year is fine with me!

But I would like to do a comi-prov every summer (for a month or two?) if we can infact work it out. And I think we could.

It doesn't HAVE to be Couches of LOVE season 2..
It could be something entirely different. A Sci-Fi movie or something for instance. (but we could still use the same characters.. that would be pretty funny! Or, make new characters too. I was thinking though, if we kept the same characters, then I could make a "characters" page up, that we'd keep up all the time)

I REALLY REALLY want to try and do a comi-prov every year.

But 2 months is good enough for me. And yes. Working ahead (for THAT too) is a very very VERY good idea.
