I'll follow you to Modern Tales, and I may subscribe if the other reads there are FOOKIN' AMAZING!! but trust me, Jim, no hard feelings here. You've been beyond generous giving us the Miracle for free, and you need to do what's best for you.
I worry about the risk factor with the Modern Tales scheme, for many of the reasons that have been repeated ad nauseum on this thread, but I wish you the best.
However, none of these warm sentiments mean that I will not someday DESTROY YOU!!

------------------

I get the impression, Jim, from the link on your index page, your mention by name on the Modern Tales website, and your increasingly defensive responses to our input, that you have already made up your mind on this issue. Unless they're selling your name without your permission, in which case I'd watch out for these guys.
Anyway, I think we can all safely assume that the move IS going to happen, regardless of whether or not practically every reply here ultimately advises against it.
Best of luck.

------------------

I bruise easily
I don't think I've been increasingly defensive, but admittedly I am in the midst of it, so maybe I'm just not seeing it. I tried to address everyone's questions as best I could to keep people informed. If that means I'm covering all my bases and being defensive, throw the goalie jersey on me cause I'll block those slapshots
Beyond the posts here at the forum, I've been flooded with e-mails, and many are positive. I think some of the positive people haven't felt like posting on the forum, lest the negative ones pounce on them.
I'm putting together a FAQ thread that will replace this thread on the forums. It'll detail what's been covered here and a little more so that people are informed as to what changes will be taking place starting March 1st. They're not drastic changes and the people that stop by 3 times a week won't even notice a real difference.
The first 15 pages of Makeshift is free. The latest page is free. If you want to help support what I'm doing, there's a clearer way to do it now.
I greatly appreciate the fans I've got and the thoughtful points they've raised. I've been stunned with the response I received from this and I hope they'll stick around to read the latest pages. If they can't/won't support Modern Tales, I'm okay with that too. You can always look forward to seeing the site and I'm not leaving it behind.
I appreciated your earlier compliment about being "a rare class act in a sea of mediocrity". Thanks a lot for that. It means a lot.
------------------

Hey Jimbo
Just thought I'd drop a line. Makeshift for $$ or for free, it doesn't matter to me. You know me, I'll support. We spilled the same blood in the same mud, how can I not?
Best of luck
N

I suppose this is somewhat pointless to post, as the decision has already been made. . . but the move will probably lose me and several people I've introduced to the comic. As minors, we not only have no way to get a credit card without parental approval, we also need to run checks and money-orders by them, and I know for certain my particular parental units Do Not Approve of me spending any kind of money for internet subscriptions of any kind. As I travel quite a bit away from any kind of internet access, I will soon fall behind on the story---and have no way at all to catch back up.
There's the teenager's whine for the day. :: shrugs:: As I said, the decision has already been made, but I figured I owed it to a beloved webcomic to say goodbye.

- Get a friend on the internet to save newer pages if you've got no way of subscribing. Maybe even someone nice on this forum can help you out with this.
- I'll be having contests and/or random draws for a few free 1-2 month subscriptions at Modern Tales.
Hope you'll do your best to stick around.
Take care,
------------------

Well, Jim, you've succeeded in making up your mind. Congrats.
I will try to keep up with the comic as for as long as I can.
Hell, I'll even try to get a credit card one of these days. sheesh.
You should know that I will do what's in my power to keep on reading. You're still amongst the best comic artists out there, and I will follow you (and Gaiman, and Dillon, and soforth) to the ends of the earth.
