I've been getting a big kick out of Todd and Penguin lately, and just wanted y'all to know that.Oh, and Highfalutin' DOES rock the block. I haven't had time to read the Burnt Dog Radio archives yet, but I HAVE been enjoying the last few BoxJam's Doodle......it's getting so my morning-reading list is getting unwieldy. My boss is beginning to suspect that I may not be laughing hysterically about the pharmacomedical documents I'm translating...help.------------------

I'm getting into <A HREF="http://www.plif.com" TARGET=_blank>The Parking Lot is Full</A>, <A HREF="http://www.ancientmessages.com" TARGET=_blank>Ancient Messages</A> (all right, so I am a dork) and <A HREF="http://www.explodingdog.com" TARGET=_blank>Exploding Dog</A>. ED is a weird, oddly touching comic in which the artist draws images based on phrases people send in.

Sam Brown really has a great sense of the visual - kind of like the web's Keith Haring.Another comic that seems to be abuzz lately is the Makeshift Miracle. Great art (really taking advantage of the computer too) although I'm still undecided on the writing. Can't remember the URL but its on KeenSpace.------------------

HAHAHA! I love today's "Burnt Dog."Oddly enough, I've been scripting upcoming Man-Man episodes in which Anthrax plays an incredibly minor role...but based on current developments, I may have to change that...------------------

So much so, that I made it my site of the week! Of course, I didn't realize til I went over to Boxjam's page that he made you a pick of the week too. Jerk!

Maakies is MESSED UP, man. I love it, but I have to say that as a big Chris Ware (ACME novelty library) fan, I've been LOVING LOVING LOVING <A HREF="http://www.stoopidpigeon.com" TARGET=_blank>Stoopid Pigeon</A>. It's not for kids, but it's this twisted, brilliant low-key humour strip. Darker even than Maakies...but more unsettling, too.If you like Maakies, by the way, you should check out the work of ... um... I just spent a half-hour looking for his name, and I THINK it's Marc Bell, he's a cartoonist that gets published in the Canadian music newspaper "Exclaim..." -- kind of a combo of Maakies and Jim Woodring, if I had to make an immediate comparison.(edit...found a bit (VERY LITTLE) at <A HREF="http://www.highwaterbooks.com/marc.html" TARGET=_blank>http://www.highwaterbooks.com/marc.html</A> ...)------------------

You can't read much of it on the web, but it's brilliant. <A HREF="http://www.slowwave.com" TARGET=_blank>Slow Wave</A> is pretty good too; a weekly comic based on dream interpretations sent in by readers.Oh, and there's this comic called Man-Man which I recently discovered, which is pretty good... (Keep it up, guys. It's fab.)------------------

(Maakies threw me. Sorry.) I love Man-Man (and a great many other Keenspace/spot comics) for quite different reasons. Hilarity, primarily, which isn't really these comics' avowed intent.------------------
