Maakies is MESSED UP, man. I love it, but I have to say that as a big Chris Ware (ACME novelty library) fan, I've been LOVING LOVING LOVING <A HREF="http://www.stoopidpigeon.com" TARGET=_blank>Stoopid Pigeon</A>. It's not for kids, but it's this twisted, brilliant low-key humour strip. Darker even than Maakies...but more unsettling, too.<P>If you like Maakies, by the way, you should check out the work of ... um... I just spent a half-hour looking for his name, and I THINK it's Marc Bell, he's a cartoonist that gets published in the Canadian music newspaper "Exclaim..." -- kind of a combo of Maakies and Jim Woodring, if I had to make an immediate comparison.<P>(edit...found a bit (VERY LITTLE) at <A HREF="http://www.highwaterbooks.com/marc.html" TARGET=_blank>http://www.highwaterbooks.com/marc.html</A> ...)<P>------------------
