Top 5 LCD moments

Postby Grippedchimp on Tue Nov 13, 2001 2:59 am

Thanx for the thumbs Bry. The one with Jules wielding a feather is one I ain't seen before. Now, I'd like to share with you my top 5 moments of LCD. Here goes:

The Cat's Revenge: That one should be obvious!
V-Day 2001 (the kolaches): The look on Raven's face. Both very sweet and rather funny when her eyes well up with tears...
Raven's makeover: Jules' quote "It's alive!" quote was hilarious
The whole pedicure business: A modern classic if you ask me...
Can't remember the storyline, but the strip with "Pushmataha" or something like that made me snigger. Arrrrghhh!!!

Maybe if you could post yours, that'll be nice... for Bryan...
Poisonous Monkey

Hey, thanks, guys! I appreciate the comments. Well, it's hard for me to decide on which ones I like best, I guess, because I've drawn so many and there are so many to go.
If I had to choose, here would be my top five, in no particular order...
>> Julie's new specs, from Sept. 30. I like how I varied the perspectives on the panels. It was my first effort in an "official" Sunday splash size created by Bill Watterson. The first panel of Jules in XCU was perfect.
>> Halloween 2001, a.k.a. Attack of the Killer Catholic Schoolgirls. I enjoyed drawing Jules and Mel in the same uniforms. I enjoyed writing it too. Jamie had the idea of having Mel dressed the same.
>> Julie's makeover at the end of the pedicure storyline. I think her pose at the end was one of the cutest drawings I've done of her ever.
>> The first Christmas without Schulz. I actually thought of it months in advance. I know I'll sound too critical of myself, but I wish I had drawn it a little better. Or at least had the time to color it.
>> The turnpike enhancements, from year one. One of the best ideas I had. Sure it's a local joke, but a few other states have turnpikes, so I'm sure others can relate...
Hey, anybody else have their favorites?

------------------

Hey.
Actually, I credit my big sister Yvette for the "Ally Big-Deal" reference. I chuckle.
Too bad the show's gotten too goofy. I actually watched it the first season. It was hilarious with the sight gags and sound effects. Then the second season went quickly downhill. Is it me, or is Ally Big-Deal just a live-action version of Cathy (the toon) without the obvious difference?
Bry

------------------

My top 5 fave moments in LCD:
5. Raven being caught on-air in a phone call with a rival station, asking if they got her video.
4. December 24, 2000 (Post-Sparky Christmas)
3. Producers of Ally McBeal say Calista Flockhart is so distraught over the arrest of cast member Robert Downey, Jr. that - quote - "she is not eating." (followed by "the look" from Terry Sligh)

3. Valentine's Day 2001 (Raven's look as she says "They have chocolate sprinkles...")
2. "Push'-ma-TA'-ha!"
1. The whole Raven in a near-miss tornado plotline
Best Wishes,
Allen

Just finished flicking through the archives, and I have to say, the comics are bloody hilarious. I now can't think of which of these would rank at my top 5 now! Jules definitely looked so cute back then, and Raven's sense of humour is so similar to my ex's. The punchlines and the way she says "ass" is just funny. Even Terry has her moments. The more serious storylines are great too.
Seriously, LCD should be turned into an animated TV program. That'll be great.

Ahh! Thank you very kindly. Now, let's get the ball rolling. Any suggestions for voices? Let's put this on another thread...

Hmm...Top 5 moments? So many to choose from...
5. Jules classic line of "Don't tickle me! I'm full of beer!"
4. The Cool Cat Studio crossover with the first encounter between Liz and Raven.
3. The first sight of Chelsea and Raven in a one panel cartoon. This was my first exposure to LCD.
2. Raven dealing with a rival reporter when she was forced to dress up by inserting a high heel up...an uncomfortable spot.
1. Same time as #2, but when she was dangling the reporter over the bear exhibit.
Hard to really narrow it down to just five, but I think those are the ones that stand out the most with me.
------------------
What is that atrocious sucking sound? Oh yeah; it's my life.

Having a closer inspection of the archives, Jules has the best comedic moments. For example:
"We're Number 4! Party!" (with a dopey-looking expression on her face and holding up four fingers)
Beer and foot massages "I'm full of beer!"
Raven's makeover (she looked cute in red specs, didn't she?)
The Peanuts rendition (b****!) was truly hilarious
The pedicure
and of course, many others
Raven, on the other hand, has the best lines, but there are too many to mention.
Even Terry has her moments. That look after the Ally McBeal report was very funny.
