3 were ummm how do you call this occupation? Public security? I mean, Martin, I'Brolent and Ted...
And 2 were reporters! Bob O'Link and Hugh Creigh.
I've been wondering... Maybe Gene doesn't really like TV reporters... *giggles*
=EFG=

*chuckle* I assure you, it was pure coincidence
that two of the people that have been bopped
upside the head in my comic have been reporters.
There isn't really anything to psychoanalyze.
Not being the "Newshounds" in and of itself
isn't grounds for punishment. No way will they
be as much a class act, of course, and in a
way that's punishment enough!

Ah, but did they? Did the one in the hood and
jacket really get plunged into darkness,
or did he simply have his hood too far over
his head? Did the tall one really see himself
in multiple versions, or did he simply wander
into the Hall of Mirrors without knowing it?
(Or are the members of TSI just really slick
enough to cover their tracks that well?)

Of course! You know they were real, the
readers know they were real, but who'd believe
the juvenile troublemaker if he told anyone
that? Especially since Martin (who would be
much more believable to those in Furriston)
would tell them he hauled the kid out of the
Hall of Mirrors.

Faced with ordinary circumstances, they might
have thought along ordinary lines. But what
happened to them happened so suddenly, and was
so unexpected, that their reactions were of
confusion. Those are the kind of situations
that can cause one to doubt one's own sanity,
especially when recounting it to someone else.
Questioner: What happened?
Tall kid: I was suddenly surrounded by dozens
of identical copies of myself!!
Questioner: And then what?
Tall kid: Some security guard hauled me out
of the Hall of Mirrors!
Questioner: Uh-huh.
Tall kid: But they were all talking!
Questioner: Sure they were. >=) *turns* And
what about you?
Short kid: Everything went suddenly dark all
around me!
Questioner: And then what?
Short kid: I heard a voice say that if I took
my hood off, I could see better...
Questioner: And what did you do?
Short kid: I took my hood off...
Questioner: And?
Short kid: I could see again...
Questioner: Ooookay.
Short kid: But I didn't pull my hood that far
down in the first place!
Questioner: Right. -_-
You see how it sounds when you have to
describe it to someone else...

It's like Alistair's "gun deactivator" in another lesser strip somewhere. Did Alistair's invention work or not? We never really know. I've been told by some that it was definite that it did, but all the things that happened could have been coincidence. You just don't know. I like the idea that the Chaos crew MIGHT have only been playing with their heads and that they only THOUGHT all that stuff had happened. Or it could have really happened but no one else ever saw it. That's the beauty of it. It keeps you wondering and keeps you guessing.
I won't infringe on Gene Catlow's world by saying that it was "definitely" ambiguous... let's just say it's "ambiguously" ambiguous.
------------------
