Good question! The cards are a combination
of receipt, instinctual index record, and
personal log. Everyone who goes to the BII
and speaks to a repositor about something
that happened to them involving instinct gets
a card like that. If a particular incident
repeats itself, or if something pertaining to
that same incident should require that the
fur would want to see the repositor again (or
for that matter, a different repositor) that
fur would bring the card back. A new incident
gets a new card. By going to see a repositor
about an instinctive matter, the fur mentally
links the matter itself to the information on
the card. Much in the way we would feel a
certain way about something we read, that
pertained to us, that was written in the past,
a fur will be able to draw upon the feelings
about the instinctive event by what was on
the card, thus providing emotional and
psychological feedback about the instinct
itself. It's the way that their furry society
has made the intangibility of instinct a
tangible and documentable process. Thanks for
your question! I'd hoped that readers would
begin noticing those things about their
society. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif">
