Please pardon this little side trip:Suddenly remembering the mercury "watch battery" he'd been carrying in his pocket, Attic Rat checked to make sure it was still there and safe. Those things are risky, and if shorted against a coin or bit of metal they can become very hot or even burst with painful force.
His pocket was empty. And so was another with almost a dollar's worth of change missing! How odd. How very odd. He wondered what had happened, but since his wallet was still safe, he didn't think much of it.In a tree nearby, something went *POP-Yipe!*We now return you to the story in progress:
